holding discussions “to reaffirm the U.S.’ commitment to Ukraine

What "commitment" is that, and who made it?

I scratch my head to discern what Constitutional phrase authorizes a Senate coterie to do foreign policy.

And the article didn’t make clear how the group was formed.

My thought exactly. They must be trolling for political “donations”.

Whenever the DC pols travel anywhere it is always for some type of self-interested motivation.

Oh! Goodie - a junket...paid for by the taxpayers. “I’ve never been to Ukraine - yippee!!” These are the troops they’re calling out because Biden isn’t up to the job?? I thought Blinken was going to go there to take charge of the situation.

They might want to take this in while they’re in TOWN..Just like Disneyland..

Why would promises from the most treacherous group of criminals in the world reassure anyone?

On Dec 30, 2016 another delegation went to Ukraine, presumably to undermine President-elect Trump. Klobachar was part of that delegation and now this one.

The President of Ukraine presented state awards to Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham

President Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with the delegation of the U.S. Senate headed by Senator John McCain. The delegation included Senators Lindsey Graham and Amy Klobuchar. The President awarded Senator John McCain with the Order of Freedom and presented the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise to Senator Lindsey Graham for their significant personal contribution to the enhancement of relations between Ukraine and USA.

The Head of State emphasized the importance of traditional bipartisan support for Ukraine in the U.S. Congress and noted that the delegation included representatives of both parties. This confirms that such support will further remain in the struggle against the aggression of Russia, preservation of sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine.

“It is crucially important that our people, Parliament, Government stand side-by-side with the American people in this struggle. We feel this reliable support and assistance. This is extremely important in such difficult days for my country,” the President said.

The parties noted the importance of continuing efforts to ensure the fulfillment of Russia’s commitments under the Minsk agreements and maintain the policy of international sanctions against Russia until full restoration of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, including Crimea.

The President offered Senators to visit Donbas and get objective information about subversive actions of the Russian party and its militants that continue provocations and violate the ceasefire regime.

Petro Poroshenko noted the importance of adopting the law on the support for stability and democracy in Ukraine by the U.S. Congress, which would be an important decision in the interests of solidarity and unity with our country.

The Head of State also said that Ukraine was fighting not only for its independence. “We are fighting for freedom, values, democracy and defend them in the center of Europe in the XXI century,” he stressed.

The President informed the U.S. Senators on the course of reforms in Ukraine and emphasized the important role of the U.S. in that process.

In his turn, Senator John McCain confirmed his determination to assist Ukraine in its struggle against the aggression of Russia.

There will be no war if Russia keeps their thieving hands off Ukraine.

Must read

Ukraine: Tragedy of a Nation Divided

Interference by the United States and its NATO allies in Ukraine’s civil struggle has exacerbated the crisis within Ukraine, undermined the possibility of bringing the two easternmost provinces back under Kyiv’s control, and raised the specter of possible conflict between nuclear armed powers. Furthermore, in denying that Russia has a “right” to oppose extension of a hostile military alliance to its national borders, the United States ignores its own history of declaring and enforcing for two centuries a sphere of influence in the Western hemisphere.

The fact is, Ukraine is a state but not yet a nation. In the thirty years of its independence, it has not yet found a leader who can unite its citizens in a shared concept of Ukrainian identity. Yes, Russia has interfered, but it is not Russian interference that created Ukrainian disunity but rather the haphazard way the country was assembled from parts that were not always mutually compatible.

The territory of the Ukrainian state claimed by the government in Kyiv was assembled, not by Ukrainians themselves but by outsiders, and took its present form following the end of World War II. To think of it as a traditional or primordial whole is absurd. This applies a fortiori to the two most recent additions to Ukraine—that of some eastern portions of interwar Poland and Czechoslovakia, annexed by Stalin at the end of the war, and the largely Russian-speaking Crimea, which was transferred from the Russian Socialist Federated Soviet Republic (RSFSR) well after the war, when Nikita Khrushchev controlled the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

I fully expect Jonah Goldberg to write an article in favor of staring down the Russians.
