Hard-hitting investigative journalist and former NYPD detective John Connolly passed away on Saturday at 78.
The cop-turned-scribe was known among media insiders for his unending Rolodex, and a unique ability to mix among Hollywood execs and stars, Wall Street rainmakers, pols, police and wiseguys alike.
Connolly was a co-author with James Patterson of the 2017 book “Filthy Rich: The Shocking True Story of Jeffrey Epstein — The Billionaire’s Sex Scandal,” which was turned into a Netflix series.
He was also a contributor during his career to magazines including Spy, Vanity Fair, Premiere, US Weekly, Radar and New York, and penned prominent pieces on Steven Seagal, Heidi Fleiss, Donald Trump, Michael Jackson and Arnold Schwarzenegger, among others.
He’d also appeared in the documentary “Who Killed Jeffrey Epstein?” for Investigation Discovery. Connolly told The Post in 2020 of his findings on Epstein over the years: “Like all good grifters, he had ways of moving people in directions where they shouldn’t go … Once they did, they were screwed.”

So name names, already.
Co-ink-i-dink?
Things that make you say “Hmmmmmmmmmm”.
Hope the family has an independent autopsy performed.
Dead men tell no tales...........................
And a mere lad of 78!
Dead men tell no tales...........................

Anyone investigating Epstein should have had a deadman’s switch in place.
Not that this wasn’t natural causes, but he still should have taken steps to protect his data
John Connolley didn’t kill himself.
Who’s to say he didn’t?...not John.
In my life, I would normally have looked at the death of a 78 year old man, and thought little of it other than “when your time comes, that is the time”.
But from what I have seen, this is not the same country I grew up in. Skullduggery has always been there, but open skullduggery and murder have not been apparently close to the surface.
I am sure he had a lot of enemies.
Another Arkancide?

Name are not going to be released no matter who stands in the way power players are in position for a reason.
In this particular instance, there seems to be no factual basis for suspicion, and my guess is that the coroner and homicide division will make sure that any suspicious circumstances there may be about the death of a retired cop are fully explored. And in regard to Jeffery Epstein, it was the police who did their job and got the proof while the prosecutors and politicians then did their best to cover for him.
I would agree 100%, in a world where there was rule of law.
We don’t have that anymore. So...everything is suspect now.
Unfortunately, that leads to a lot of bad calls. In the end, the facts prevail in spite of one’s angst over the state of the world.
We disagree on this.
Unfortunately, it has been my observation that we have let life go on as usual for too long assuming normality and believing in the inherent power of truth while the termites eat the foundation of the house.
Facts are facts and as we have seen, do not always prevail.
It is cynical. But I did not end up feeling this way through random acts of nature.
