Oh, federal (and state/local) agencies pay HUGE amounts to snitches. Both anonymous and known informants. It’s a racket. But some good does come out of it. And yes some snitches provide false/bad information just to keep the cash flowing. Happens a lot. But a few bad apples cannot be allowed to spoil the bunch.
