ATLANTA - MARTA CEO Jeffrey Parker died Friday night, officials said.
A spokesperson for the transit authority issued a statement on Saturday morning:
"With very heavy hearts, we share the official news of GM/CEO Jeffrey Parker’s tragic passing on Friday evening, January 14, 2022.
"Please keep his family in your prayers and meditations.
"In the coming days, we will share more information on the transition plan, including grief counseling for employees as we process this devastating news.
"Jeff cared deeply about MARTA and his leadership gave us a strong foundation from which to carry forward."
Flags at MARTA headquarters were lowered to half-staff on Saturday.
The MARTA Board of Directors said in a statement Parker took his own life.

I'm sorry for his family.
That’s certainly a poetic way for the CEO of MARTA to go out.

And if true, especially for the operator of the train and his family, who now have to live with this.

56-year old white guy who apparently committed suicide. Have no clue what is, or is not, going to come out.
Maybe he was just trying to inspect the tracks?
Unless a person is vile, corrupt and/or generally trying to evade earthly justice for his own evil actions, these kinds of reports are just plain sad.
And the family suffers regardless.
Is there a belief that when physical life ends, that’s it? No worry about the damage becasue there is presumably no awareness, no soul that stays alive in the beyond?
I suppose my point is that nobody knows, so a one-way door is not a wise option. Kind of like the devil you know versus the one you don’t.
Prayers that he may have repented and found forgiveness in the last moments of his life.
I do not wish ill-will on the dead.
His seat will be taken over by at least two diversity candidates and MARTA will not skip a beat. I have dealt with this gentleman and the other bureaucrats at MARTA. They are all in it for the money that they can take from the citizens’ pockets.
I initiated a revolt against a proposed MARTA tax and with many efforts, we saved the citizens of Gwinnett County, GA 1% on all sales (homes, cars, groceries, etc.)
I fought back and we won.
Good thing you put that in post 1 or there would be at least 20 replies claiming he "died of the jab".
