I was a bit puzzled at the characterization of them being there as a trigger point. I know these are indeed tense times, but US submarines are in no way strangers to those waters.
Perhaps it is the first time any of these media people have given it a thought. Personally, I would be even more concerned if we didn't have boats up there at times like this.
And it is a bit breathless with the line "It is not excluded that Russia will send anti-submarine reconnaissance aircraft to “monitor” US nuclear submarines when they approach their territorial waters..."
Heh, well, no duh. If the Russians still have any functioning subs, of course they would have them prowling around. I know times are tense and anything can happen, but...there is no surprise about us being there.
This is in no way a boomer.
In fact, I just realized we really don’t have a replacement for the wonderful Ohio.
Seems odd that they were discovered unless, of course, they wanted to be.
This sub was only sighted in Norway and reported in the press because somebody wanted it to be sighted and reported.
Like the police being accused of staging new provocations when they show up at an armed antifa event protesting authority since they lust to be in authority.
Except it is quite certain that the US wanted its sub to be known. Politics.
A dim witted thief, liar, and cheat. As well as being a child molester you mean.
Columbia Class is the Ohio replacement. Sadly onl 16x Trident D5’s instead of 24x.
“Remember the Maine!“”
Remember the Bedford Incident.
I just seeing that now. Still not clear if that’s a modified Virginia or really new.
My parents loved that.
Right. It’s dangerous to send incompetent people of whatever stripe into harms way. In a case like this it is extremely dangerous if they can’t competently handle dire situations.
The VA isn’t anything to to sneeze at, I’d think. The Columbias should be far more capable than the Russian Borei’s of similar size. I’d probably best the Columbias will be 5-25 times quitter? US Sub have always vastly outperformed their Russian counterparts.
Main thing is, I bet both sides would delivery sub strikes on every major city on the others’ sides almost equally as well.
You mean they are not sending one of their weak ones?
USS New Mexico has approached Russia’s territorial waters.
that has been discovered in northern Norway and is believed to be on its way to Russia’s territorial waters
US nuclear submarines when they approach their territorial waters.
Currently, the nuclear submarine USS New Mexico is located about 500 km from the Russian territorial border and will quickly shorten this distance
Let's see, it has simultaneously entered Russian waters, approached them, is in Northern Norway, approaching Russian waters (again) and finally is 500 km away. That's some fine writing or else the most amazing sub in the world by being in multiple locations at once
You mean they are not sending one of their weak ones?
That made me laugh.
Heading towards, approaching, entering. I just wonder which of these is true.
