Russia Won't Rule Out Military Deployment to Cuba, Venezuela

Russia on Thursday sharply raised the stakes in its dispute with the West over Ukraine, with a top diplomat refusing to rule out a Russian military deployment to Cuba and Venezuela if tensions with the United States mount.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, who led the Russian delegation in Monday’s talks with the U.S. in Geneva, said he could “neither confirm nor exclude” the possibility of Russia sending military assets to Cuba and Venezuela if the talks fail and U.S. pressure on Russia mounts.

The Russia-U.S. negotiations in Geneva and a subsequent NATO-Russia meeting failed to narrow the gap on Moscow’s security demands amid a buildup of Russian troops near Ukraine. While Moscow demanded a halt to NATO expansion, Washington and its allies firmly rejected that as a nonstarter.

No, this is not happening: Putin is not putting bases next to the US, and if he does, this is just for a show. The brief reason is that it is just not worth it, he has means to erase the US without these bases, and they are costly — and he knows how to count money.

To explain what he may or may not do, consider a couple of question nobody bothers to ask (and should): just why Putin is giving an ultimatum which everyone expects to be turned down or ignored, and why he is doing it now?

I think there is just one answer to it: China.

US-China confrontation is coming, and position of Russia in this triangle is decisive. China wants a stronger alliance with Russia, the US wants Russian neutrality.

Of course Putin understands that Russian neutrality will lead to an all-out attack on Russia if the US succeeds against China. The guarantees Putin is seeking is not for now, but for exact this scenario.

And this is also the reason why if Biden(or rather his handlers) have a good reason to accept the “ultimatum” — because otherwise China has a much stronger hand. Of course, this presumes that Biden et al have enough intellect to understand the global picture.... I have my doubts here!

Now, I can see a list of about twenty options Putin has to make his point — in different areas, with different tools. he can make more than one move too. But what I believe is certain is that at least one of the moves would be strengthening the alliance with China, because this is the main point of the message he is trying to send. The Force of Siberia II is among the safest (but strong) options here, there are others.

Amazingly the situation resembles pre-WWII’s when the Brits and the French went into endless negotiations with USSR about security guarantees, and after a couple of months Stalin opted for an agreement with Germany.

So... it may be that Brandon is reenacting the behavior of Chamberlain and Daladier of those days.

Yes, what I posted was limited too conventional type of weapons and warfare. And I always want to point out that Chinese and Russian military hardware are total shit compared to western allied military equipment. I am so sick and tired of the propaganda about them and their wonder weapons. Everytime somebody reports on their newest weapons, the reports are always framed as if these weapons were developed in a vaccuum and the dummies in the west have no defense against these chinese weapons. Oh, and its always reported in a way that makes it look like these weapons are infallible, they always hit their target and they never malfunction. So many people buy into that crap, even many on this site, and its just total bullshit.

Also, I don’t think we have to worry about Japan’s commitments, they know the Chinese have long memories and they are salivating over the prospect of getting revenge on Japan for all the attrocities committed in WWII in China. I don’t think we have to worry about Australia’s committment or the UK’s committment, they all know what they will face if Russia or China becomes the dominant power in their areas. Personally, I would be most distrustful of Canada’s committments to be perfectly honest. Trudeau and several other Canadian leftist leaders are true believers in communism and how china controls its people. I think this is the only real area of disagreement between us is the reaction of our allies. I doubt any of our allies believe it is in their best interests to allow Russia or China to become dominant over them, thus they will be with us, and the Americqn people, the vast majority will put their differences aside if we and our allies are attacked.

“Of course Putin understands that Russian neutrality will lead to an all-out attack on Russia if the US succeeds against China.”

I don’t understand that statement.

Please explain why, if Russia remained neutral in a US vs China war which the US wins; why then would Russia be attacked and by whom?

At the moment.

By the US and allies.

Not a direct military attack — Russia still would have a superior military — but new Cold War.

Very similar to what has happened right after WWII.

Specifically, massive sanctions and pressure on the entire perimeter, perhaps even including the Chinese border — if China is defeated.

And this is the scenario Putin must avoid.

Totally ridiculous. For what reason would the allies want to attack Russia? How is it in any of the allies interests to attack a nuclear armed Russia after fighting a war against China.

I really don’t think you’ve thought this through. Try it using this template; the Allies and the US would much rather have good relations with Russia and do business with them than attack them for no reason and risk nuclear thus the deaths of perhaps a billion people and the worlds infrastructure completely destroyed.

You honestly believe the Allies would attack Russia for no reason?

Can Biden even spell “Monroe Doctrine”?

Of course, neither Russia nor China cares one bit about the Monroe Doctrine anymore. If you’d review it there was another side to it, to keep out of European affairs.
If the USAF thinks it is entitled to have missiles on the Russian border then Russia is entitled to have theirs on Cuba.

I honestly believe your should have read my post before replying -- I clearly said what kind of attack. And yes, look at the behavior of the globalist gang toward Russia in recent decades to answer your question.

Ciao.

You need to think out of the box.

After WWII most everyone realized that the US possessed the most powerful weapon of war that mankind had ever built.

That weapon insured the defeat of any single nation on Earth and most of the possible alliances of nations.

The first post war President to use that weapon was Ronald Reagan when he used it to coerce the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

Socialist Democrats and RINOs have eroded that weapon significantly, until the US cannot use it against an alliance of strong nations.

However, against a single nation the US would likely prevail.

Then there would be nothing to prevent using the same tactics on any nation that stood by in neutrality.

Do you trust Biden and the Democrats?

Why should Russia?

This can’t wait three years. Either Foe Jiden mans up immediately in response, or whatever presence Putin graces the Western Hemisphere with will remain. They are still in Syria since Obama. Trump didn’t mix it up over that. He was going after ISIS, he did a surgical strike over the use of chemical weapons, he cut some Salami in Iraq, destroyed the ISIS Caliphate, but he did not change the status quo he inherited vis a vis Russia already being in Syria.

The only likely Russian deployment in or to Cuba would be Naval, sheltering inside the 12 mile Territorial waters of Cuba.

Most all Russian Naval warships are Hypersonic Missile capable.

Well, then, there we are. They might deploy troops to help brutally put down the “Libertad!” people, but I doubt that Cuba has any shortage of homegrown thugs for that purpose.

I thought China was going to Cuba?

They may send some tourists to Cuba, the tightwads.

China doesn't like Economic Communism like Cuba does.

Didn't Vietnam kick the Russians out?

Yes.

They didn't need them anymore.

Does that mean we won after all?

Ho Chi Minh and associates defeated the US Congress and US Politicians, not the US Military.

Is Venezuela going to collapse soon?

It pretty much has collapsed, and it won't be getting better.

Is Cuba turning away from Communism?

No, they are identical to American Democrats and will never turn away from Communism.

The Cuban people would need binoculars to see a Russian.

They wouldn't even know they were there.
