We need to repeal RCV wherever it’s in use.
And we need to go back to dumb voting machines.
Otherwise, with those two things in place, even if every voter is a legal voter, elections can still be stolen.
Democrats are terrified of even the barest of security measures.......even requiring a simple photo ID scares the beejesus out of ‘em.
So if Dems think the “right to vote” is so sacrosanct that they gladly destroy the norms and rules of the Senate, you’d think a minimum effort to protect voting integrity would be the least a Dem would support.
Unless they planned to cheat….......
How about if we ERASE the voter registration rolls and require every CITIZEN to pass a written "Citizenship Test" (just as with new citizens) BEFORE they can vote.
And ALWAYS require PHOTO ID before they are HANDED a ballot AT the polling place, ON ELECTION Day.
Forget Easier, We Need To Make It Harder To Vote
I’m ok with going back to property owners only.
While I don’t know about going that far generally, I would say that if you aren’t a property owner, you don’t get to vote on millages
Step 2: On Election Day (typically the first Tuesday after the first Monday of November),go to polling place, show ID proving citizenship and place of residence (a “Real ID”,for example) and vote.
Step 3: Sit in front of TV watching the coverage.
Addendum: If you're gonna be out of town on Election Day show your ID at the government office (before Election Day) and follow the instructions for completing it and submitting it.
Simple...everyone over the age of 18 who's a US citizen (except certain people whose right to vote has been withdrawn) gets to vote. All 85 races, all 1,266 ethnicities, all 27 genders.
Black America is unequal to the point they lack the intellectual ability and motivation to vote. To make up for that deficit, votes must be created to equalize.
The natural democrat voters lack the motivation and mental capacity to get to the polls.
Two: That is what I always do, and not only for the general elections but also for the primaries.
When the Constitution was written in 1790 and ratified, it had a common sense provision placed in it to prevent as Ben Franklin said “People from voting themselves more money” or better yet “A democracy is two wolves and a sheep debating what is for dinner, a Republic is the same with a well armed sheep”. That provision was that you had to be a landholder to vote. At the time, it meant that you had to be a potential taxpayer, as people who did not own property didn’t pay direct taxes.
After a while, in urban areas, it changed from people owning houses to people living in apartments. So, landholders became a small percentage of people in Urban areas, and the law was changed. Later, the 16th Amendment made for income tax.
The problem now is that people can vote themselves more ‘money’ for social programs, but only 51% of the population pays federal income tax and only 5% of those pay for 95% of the bill. Ben Franklins prediction, of people voting themselves other peoples money has come true.
The fix is simple. Don’t pay Federal income tax, no vote.
Do you realize the car that you paid for is your property? I bet you don't
Your first point is a form of “literacy test” and has been ruled unconstitutional. I am sympathetic with your intent.
I agree with your 2nd point.
Her response was "it's illegal for any government official in Massachusetts to ask for ID when one is registering to vote or when one is voting".
Her supervisor heard the exchange and walked over and said to me "when you register to vote you affirm that you're a citizen under oath". And I said to her "yah,I'm sure nobody's ever lied when registering".
Given the yearly rent ( taxes) I pay to the government on my car, I am actually a renter and not an owner of that “property”.
I’ve always thought you needed to take a citizenship test or the equivalent.
One of the excuses they use against voter ID is, some people are “too poor” to get one. If you are that poor, you are eligible for welfare, food stamps, etc. Photo ID is required to apply for those benefits. Not supposed to notice that, I guess.
“Given the yearly rent ( taxes) I pay to the government on my car, I am actually a renter and not an owner of that “property”.”
If you “own” property (real estate), and don’t pay your property taxes, the government will confiscate your property. If you don’t pay your car taxes, they will not confiscate your car (arbitrarily). You own the car more than you own real estate.
They love spouting about Europe for everything but voting. Most require id and many did away with all mail in.
re. “literacy test” — yes, I know that my proposal is impossible. That’s why I referred to it as only a “principle”.
Thanks.
