Forget Easier, We Need To Make It Harder To Vote

Cries of racism are all Democrats have when it comes to appealing to black voters, and even that is getting so thin that its cries are hitting levels of pathetic so laughable they’re funnier than anything woke late-night hosts have said in the last 10 years. In this panicked push, a new line has emerged from the left – there is a massive conspiracy to prevent “people who look like me” from voting – in a desperate attempt to maintain the status quo.

It’s odd that this whining about being oppressed is coming at a time when television networks and websites are created explicitly to segregate information. This is coupled with an actual push by the left to bring back segregation in college housing, school functions, and graduations. As I’ve said for a long time, Democrats never changed their goals, they only changed their tactics. Once the party of segregation, always the party of segregation. But who would’ve thought they could have convinced so many black liberals to go along with it?

The Grio, a race-based “news” site is known for spewing lies to keep black people “in line.”

In a piece entitled, “They will never let black people vote,” the blogger asserts that “Even though he (Biden) is the de facto leader of our national political institution and the most powerful man in America, he cannot fix democracy. Even if Biden somehow managed to strongarm the uncloaked Klansman from West Virginia or Karen Senator from Arizona into supporting democracy instead of using the filibuster as a tentpole for white supremacist politics, it still would not guarantee an end of Black voter suppression.” (I’m not going to link to that trash, you can find it pretty easily if you want to read its full racism on its own.)

Where is this “black voter suppression”? That’s one question I’d like to see asked that never is.

The closest you can come to an answer is something about photo IDs, like black people can’t manage to do what the average 16-year-old does. Or the idea that a line at a polling place is the same as Democrats turning firehoses and dogs loose on black people trying to vote. Lines are a normal part of life, get over it.

Believe it or not, we all used to vote on one day in this country. If you couldn’t vote on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November you had to ask the state for permission to vote absentee, but they didn’t always grant it. You had to provide a good reason why you couldn’t wait in that line, and there was no guarantee your excuse would be bought.

Now you can vote absentee because you want to. If you are too busy or simply can’t bring yourself to go online and request an absentee ballot, you can vote in person up to 45 days before election day. If you are one of the few people in the country who somehow can’t afford a photo ID, your state will give you one for free. If you still can’t manage to get one because you somehow can’t prove who you are, there are people in the government who can help you with that.

If, after all of that (and a lot more), you still can’t comply with voter integrity laws, do the world a favor and don’t vote. It couldn’t be easier to vote unless they were just tossing ballots in the wind with pre-paid postage envelopes and requiring no name attached to them for them to count, or Democrats passed a law allowing them to vote on your behalf. If you can’t manage to do that, don’t vote.

We don’t need to make it easier for anyone to vote, we should make it harder. If you’re not willing to stand in line for a bit, go home. I don’t care how you would’ve voted, the world doesn’t have to cater to you.

End early voting, end no excuse absentee voting, require photo IDs from everyone. Hire more poll workers and open more polling places, but make voting a conscious decision requiring effort, not an afterthought or a McDonald’s experience. If you care, you’ll wait. If you know what you support and which candidates support those things, you will vote no matter what. If you’re just an idiot doing what you’re told by “community organizers” or political machines, you probably won’t. Either way, the country wins.

That Democrats are terrified of even the barest of security measures tells you something, doesn’t it? Because if the “right to vote” is so sacrosanct that norms and the rules of the Senate must be destroyed, you’d think a minimum effort to protect its integrity would be the least someone would support. Unless that someone wanted to cheat…

We need to repeal RCV wherever it’s in use.

And we need to go back to dumb voting machines.

Otherwise, with those two things in place, even if every voter is a legal voter, elections can still be stolen.

Democrats are terrified of even the barest of security measures.......even requiring a simple photo ID scares the beejesus out of ‘em.

So if Dems think the “right to vote” is so sacrosanct that they gladly destroy the norms and rules of the Senate, you’d think a minimum effort to protect voting integrity would be the least a Dem would support.

Unless they planned to cheat….......

(take this suggestion with the PRINCIPLE in mind)

How about if we ERASE the voter registration rolls and require every CITIZEN to pass a written "Citizenship Test" (just as with new citizens) BEFORE they can vote.

And ALWAYS require PHOTO ID before they are HANDED a ballot AT the polling place, ON ELECTION Day.

I’m ok with going back to property owners only.

While I don’t know about going that far generally, I would say that if you aren’t a property owner, you don’t get to vote on millages

Step 1: Go to government office, show proof of citizenship and residency:register to vote.

Step 2: On Election Day (typically the first Tuesday after the first Monday of November),go to polling place, show ID proving citizenship and place of residence (a “Real ID”,for example) and vote.

Step 3: Sit in front of TV watching the coverage.

Addendum: If you're gonna be out of town on Election Day show your ID at the government office (before Election Day) and follow the instructions for completing it and submitting it.

Simple...everyone over the age of 18 who's a US citizen (except certain people whose right to vote has been withdrawn) gets to vote. All 85 races, all 1,266 ethnicities, all 27 genders.

Black America is unequal to the point they lack the intellectual ability and motivation to vote. To make up for that deficit, votes must be created to equalize.

The natural democrat voters lack the motivation and mental capacity to get to the polls.

One: That is exactly what I did as I am a naturalized citizen.

Two: That is what I always do, and not only for the general elections but also for the primaries.

When the Constitution was written in 1790 and ratified, it had a common sense provision placed in it to prevent as Ben Franklin said “People from voting themselves more money” or better yet “A democracy is two wolves and a sheep debating what is for dinner, a Republic is the same with a well armed sheep”. That provision was that you had to be a landholder to vote. At the time, it meant that you had to be a potential taxpayer, as people who did not own property didn’t pay direct taxes.

After a while, in urban areas, it changed from people owning houses to people living in apartments. So, landholders became a small percentage of people in Urban areas, and the law was changed. Later, the 16th Amendment made for income tax.

The problem now is that people can vote themselves more ‘money’ for social programs, but only 51% of the population pays federal income tax and only 5% of those pay for 95% of the bill. Ben Franklins prediction, of people voting themselves other peoples money has come true.

The fix is simple. Don’t pay Federal income tax, no vote.

This is the most ridiculous thing that anyone can say.

Do you realize the car that you paid for is your property? I bet you don't

Your first point is a form of “literacy test” and has been ruled unconstitutional. I am sympathetic with your intent.

I agree with your 2nd point.

A few years ago I knew that I'd be out of town (out of the country, actually) on Election Day so I went down to Town Hall before I left for an absentee ballot.I asked the clerk if she needed to see my ID and she said "no" in a way that suggested that she was stunned and shocked to be asked the question.Having heard her response I said something like "but how do you know who I am? How do you know I'm a citizen?"

Her response was "it's illegal for any government official in Massachusetts to ask for ID when one is registering to vote or when one is voting".

Her supervisor heard the exchange and walked over and said to me "when you register to vote you affirm that you're a citizen under oath". And I said to her "yah,I'm sure nobody's ever lied when registering".

A friend of mine in a naturalized citizen. She gave me the details of some of the questions she was asked on the exam. I must admit that I'm not certain that I could pass!

Given the yearly rent ( taxes) I pay to the government on my car, I am actually a renter and not an owner of that “property”.

I’ve always thought you needed to take a citizenship test or the equivalent.

One of the excuses they use against voter ID is, some people are “too poor” to get one. If you are that poor, you are eligible for welfare, food stamps, etc. Photo ID is required to apply for those benefits. Not supposed to notice that, I guess.

“Given the yearly rent ( taxes) I pay to the government on my car, I am actually a renter and not an owner of that “property”.”

If you “own” property (real estate), and don’t pay your property taxes, the government will confiscate your property. If you don’t pay your car taxes, they will not confiscate your car (arbitrarily). You own the car more than you own real estate.

re. “literacy test” — yes, I know that my proposal is impossible. That’s why I referred to it as only a “principle”.

Thanks.
