The real risk is relativistic time travel effects if you get them going too fast. IOW they could wind up going backwards in time. Then we’d find ourselves being walked on leashes by our new hyperevolved tardigrade overlords.

More likely, they work like dogs cooking up the best random number (DATA) generator possible. Then off to the local bicycle shop, everyone gets a new ride.
