The real risk is relativistic time travel effects if you get them going too fast. IOW they could wind up going backwards in time. Then we’d find ourselves being walked on leashes by our new hyperevolved tardigrade overlords.

And then just squander the rest.

They might interpret this as a weapon or a threat.

Proxima Centauri is 20 light years away. Earth destruction in 40 years. LOL

WTF are they supposed to learn? It would take thousands of years to get data back from wherever they go.

How are they going to check the effect on the Tardigrades from light years away?

Seriously this is a bad Idea.

I still get really pissed when I think about the Israeli mission that contaminated the moon with them.

WTF

We all know what will happen

It sounds like a fool's errand.   How would any data be collected?

“The velocities do not matter. It is the acceleration or deceleration forces which are important.”

Einstein says velocity does matter.

More likely, they work like dogs cooking up the best random number (DATA) generator possible. Then off to the local bicycle shop, everyone gets a new ride.
Anything left and it goes into the pizza fund.

They are engineers, that cannot help it.
