I was in Florida for Christmas and New Year’s. Life was essentially normal. The only sign of a pandemic was employees at certain big box stores, like Home Depot and Walmart, having to wear masks. Otherwise you only had a few people wearing them. Restaurants were full, downtown sidewalks were bustling with people eating out, getting an ice cream, etc.
I just got back from running three hours of errands in Palo Alto, CA. Nothing but nag, nag, nag, nag — “pull your mask up, sir. Over your nose, Sir. Higher, sir. Even higher.” Two CVS stores, an Apple store, a Petsmart store.
I returned a cable box to Xfinity and, to their credit, no nagging. But I might have had the mask over my nose.
Three things strike me:
1. Don’t these people ever read anything about the efficacy of masks and mortality rates of the disease?
2. Aren’t they tired of this ridiculous charade?
3. How can they be so blindly obedient to the Know-Nothing idiots in the health departments? Why don’t they rebel even a little?
What a tough decision. Go back to Idaho in the depth of winter and be free. Or stay in CA and suffer this crap.
