Flights at West Coast airports briefly grounded around same time North Korea fires apparent ballistic missile

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reportedly ordered a full ground stop at airports in the western U.S. on Monday around the same time that North Korea was believed to have launched a ballistic missile into the Sea of Japan.

It was not immediately clear whether both incidents were related.

Flights at California’s Burbank Airport were halted for about 15 minutes after the FAA ordered a temporary ground stop around 2:30 p.m., airport spokeswoman Nerissa Sugars told Fox News Digital.

Flights were also halted from taking off for about 5 to 7 minutes at San Diego International Airport after air control advised of a national ground stop around 2:30 p.m. local time, airport spokeswoman Sabrina LoPiccolo told Fox New Digital. She referred Fox News to the FAA for more information.

Radio recordings of air traffic controllers advising of the ground stop were obtained by news outlets.

At California’s Burbank Airport, air traffic controllers asked a pilot to land after saying they were advised of "some sort of national security threat," NBC "Today" reported.

“Air-traffic controllers in other West Coast areas similarly ordered aircraft down, according to recordings shared online.”

Looks like someone might have been concerned about the Norks detonating an orbital or suborbital nuke (EMP).

I imagine they don’t want civilian aircraft to be in the path of anything outgoing.

The nerdy little Kimmy had better not accidentally drop one of his wild missiles on the USA. Even with half the country filled with Dem traitors, the other half of us would be gosh durned mad about it.

Maybe part his hair with a missile from an F-35A. Stand there really still, Kimmy.

Data: The Air Force, U.S. Navy and Raytheon Technologies have successfully test-fired an AIM-9X Block I missile at a target in the air from an F-35A aircraft. The F-35 can carry up to two AIM-9X missiles on its wings and four AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles internally.

Yeah, well if they did that, planes within 15 minutes of the CA coast would be the least of our worries

That doesn’t even make sense.
There is more here than is being reported.
The only possible reason I can think of is if it had a live thermonuclear warhead and even then, the alert should be at Kwaj.

Very strange.

Did any politicians bail out to remote areas?

Me neither. The article did imply the grounding was nation wide. I wonder if any other airports were affected
?

Well, ok. Not nationwide but a national security threat. Terrorism scare?

(CNN) — A ground stop was issued to some West Coast pilots for a short period of time following a North American Aerospace Defense Command alert of a launch of a North Korean missile, a US official said Tuesday.

The official says it was not a national ground stop and may have been issued by a regional air traffic control facility.

The Federal Aviation Administration, responsible for the nation’s air traffic control system, and NORAD have not responded to CNN’s multiple requests for comment on why some pilots were ordered to land and prevented from taking off from multiple West Coast airports on Monday afternoon, citing a “national ground stop.”

LiveATC air traffic control recordings of the Burbank Airport in California detail a controller telling a Southwest flight “there’s ground stops all departures, all airports right now. The message we got is it’s until further notice.”

Another recording of the control tower frequency in Hillsboro, Oregon, captures the controller telling the pilot of a Cessna to land, saying “we just got a notice that we need to do a national ground stop.”

A spokesperson for the San Diego International Airport told CNN the airport “was instructed by Air Traffic Control that there was a national ground stop but shortly after [5-7 minutes] our operations team was told it was lifted.”

Play this out.

Why would "Ground Stop" be ordered but limited to West Coast airports if an EMP was truly expected?

A half-azz Yung Fat mid-height EMP over the Sea of Japan or even the other side of Japan would maybe be a regional theater operation with the locus Japan + 2500mi radius, so it would encompass South Korea, Philipines, and Taiwan.

Not one of them called for "Ground Stop".

This smells like a pre-programmed scenario to reveal to the CCP how Xiden'a West Coast civilan ATC would react to a 'rogue' EMP release by the North Koreans PLA.

"Hunter Biden, please pick up the white courtesy phone to collect your check."

Tuesday’s test covered about the same distance at last week’s, 700 kilometers (435 miles), and the missile fell into the sea outside of Japan’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), according to Japan’s Defense Ministry.

All planes were grounded for 7 minutes, the first time since 9/11. No reports in the media.

I dunno. I think airplanes are shielded for that.

I saw a Mythbusters one time where they tried to call from a cellphone inside an airplane and couldn’t get a signal.

But I don’t use cellphones. I’m probably going to get pwned here.
