The Australian Border Force are investigating whether Novak Djokovic lied on his entry form.
It appears he made a false declaration claiming he had not travelled in the 14 days leading up to his arrival in Melbourne, the Herald Sun reports.
All travellers arriving in Australia are asked if they have 'travelled or will travel in the 14 days prior to your flight to Australia'.
They are also warned: 'Giving false or misleading information is a serious offence. You may also be liable to a civil penalty for giving false or misleading information.'
Djokovic ticked 'No' in response to the question, however that appears to be in direct conflict with the timeline of his recent movements.

I respect him even more if he lied. They lie all the time and its fine, you do it and it’s a serious offense. I also hope he gets to play and has an accidental serve that breaks the nose of the highest ranking government official in the stadium.
He violated an arbitrary, non-scientific, bureaucratic diktat.

The thing is, if he’d answered truthfully, I’m fairly sure it wouldn’t have disqualified him from entry. But if he lied on the form, that’s considered a serious offence.
Maybe it was a mistake to visit Criminal Island in the first place? With that being said, 1-3 years in Jail sounds appropriate for the Deliberate False Statement that might have put Millions of Lives at risk just to play a Game.
I am really amazed at the number of supposed conservatives on this site who seem to think there is something wrong with the idea that Australia has the right to secure its borders.
Again, another American conservative who seems to think Australia shouldn’t have laws to secure our borders. How about you open yours up to anybody who wants to lie their way into your country?
I won’t defend the lying, just explained why our own gubmint flip=flopped without even mentioning “health”. It was openly an economic decision; they realized if probably 100% of people were going to get this mild form and they all stopped functioning for 10 days, nothing would work.
They even let COVID-positive staff return to hospitals - yet we’re supposed to believe this plandemic is truly the most dangerous thing in the world?
Alas, we mostly have.

I always wanted to visit Australia. But that was in the Old Times, before they turned into something from a George Orwell novel.
An appropriate comparison since most of what you believe about Australia is probably fiction created by communists.

The fact that America elected a liar (or its whole election process is a lie - take your pick according to people on this site) isn’t a reason for Australia to follow it down the toilet.
They don’t even have to lie to get in here. Surely you know that.
