The number of Americans hospitalized with Covid-19 has surpassed last winter’s peak, underscoring the severity of the threat the virus continues to pose as the extremely contagious Omicron variant tears through the United States.
As of Sunday, 142,388 patients with the virus were hospitalized nationwide, according to data from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, surpassing the peak of 142,315 reported on Jan. 14 of last year. The seven-day average of daily hospitalizations was 132,086, an increase of 83 percent from two weeks ago.
The Omicron wave has overwhelmed hospitals and depleted staff who were already worn out by the Delta variant. It has been driven in large part by people younger than 60. Among people older than 60, daily admissions are still lower than last winter.

Yeah, you are understaffed because you fired people who you hailed as heroes not even a month prior for no good reason.
But you guys and gals sure have time to choreograph dance routines.
While some in the MSM are running with hysterics, many others are shifting gears to saying this isn’t such a big deal (because all the Covid is now finally hurting Brandon), even when they made a much bigger deal when smaller covid numbers were coming down when Trump was still in office.
I’ve noticed the same thing.
Reasonable things are being said that should have been said a year and a half ago.
I’m clutching everyone’s pearls.
Are people legitimately ill or are they succumbing to the media driven hysteria?

and was it any different a year ago? why the sudden realization now when some of us have been saying this for like forever?
Irrational fear is the primary ailment these people have and hospitals are gladly playing along with the charade.
The great majority of these people in saner times would simply be home with a bowl of chicken soup.
But deaths are waaaaaaaaaaaaay down, Folks!!!
Consider that last year there were no elective surgery patients and hospitals were empty, so of course there are more patients in hospital this year. Staff numbers? Remember last year all kinds of doctors and nurses were laid off because there were no patients? This year with more patients of all kinds, some of whom happen to test positive, hospitals have less staff because they’ve been laid off for refusing the clot shot.
It’s all lies, smoke, and mirrors.
