Respirators which N95 masks are considered only protect the wearer. There are no devices in existence that protect someone else from an airborne virus.
The fire department that I retired from currently has more people off “sick” than in any time in its history. The vast majority are vaccinated people with Omicron and the sniffles. Our governor ordered all unvaccinated health care workers including firefighters and police officers be fired. The department was just about to comply when this Omicron “emergency” struck. So instead of being fired unvaxed fire fighters, and fire officers are being forced to work mandatory overtime to cover for their sick vaxed coworkers. The only promise that they have received is that they will still be fired as soon as they are no longer needed.
The type N95 masks that we had fit tested to our faces to make sure that we were able to form a good seal, had exhalation valves. These would actually increase the velocity of the air coming from our lungs. This actually increased our ability to spread an airborne virus. As you said the masks were not meant to make the people, we were transporting safer from us.

Yeah that makes sense.
So while the selfish unjabbed are out there destroying the world and must be stopped,
...vax mandates for hospital workers would lead to the simple conclusion that 100% of employees, hence 100% of those testing + for covid are vaccinated, regardless of the reliabiliy of tests and/or redefinitions of "vaccine."
Yes, a certain type of people -- merely by existing -- is destroying the world as we know it. That would be the world of lies.

If you’re not infected you can’t transmit a virus. Protecting yourself is an individuals first priority.
Our EMS educator admitted years ago that even the expensive N95 masks we wore and had to be fit tested with twice a year... didn’t offer much protection against just about anything. The masks were more of a feel-good measure. But these ornamental pieces of fabric and surgical style dust masks are a complete joke. They don’t do anything other than make people feel like they have some protection.
Fire the nurses and then complain you don’t have enough nurses. Hmmm. It’s a tough one! Let me circle back to you on that.
