The main purpose of the vending machines is to curb overdoses across the city by increasing the availability of naloxone, a drug that works to quickly reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.
The local first responders here will not administer naloxone unless law enforcement is present. The overdosed person will sometimes respond violently when brought down from his high

Notice how casually the Slimes is reporting on this, as if it's just normal to do this.
Has anyone noticed the complete breakdown in quality of life and basic services in big cities? All the normal things like trash collection, loitering, and maintaining public safety has completely gone out the window.

Yes, but if you’re overdosing, do you really have the time to steal and sell off enough stuff to be able to buy what’s in the vending machines?

Why not send social workers instead? Neither are medically qualified anyway.

"vending machines take credit card, quarters or free?"
Vending machines will be broken into, and the products sold on the street for drugs or money. If money is required to use them, these machines will be staked out, and robberies will occur. Does anyone actually think that this will be successful, or that New York will actually prosecute anyone who destroys these machines, steals what's in them, or robs from individuals using them? What a waste of money.

First NYC elects a mayor who’s first act of business is to hire his brother as his personal bodyguard at 240 grand, then the newly elected Manhattan DA says he basically won’t be prosecuting anyone and now this. Good G*d have these people gone crazy?!
