Still no diesel oil or DEF fluid at our Walmart, going on a couple of months now. I already stocked up…..

A Wegman’s opened up near us a while back. We are pretty much surrounded by Mega-Marts. We’ve got Jewel, Marianno’s, Super Target, Costco, Walmart, Amazon Fresh, 3-4 regional players, and a bunch of mid size ethnic markets catering to Asians, Ido-Paks, South Americans, and the like.

We don’t patronize all of them but we have 4 or 5 regulars. We have noticed a few of the items on this list being unavailable at one or more.

Something is coming and it ain’t gonna be good.

I should get my old trapping gear back out and reread the regulations. This is the time of year rabbits are easiest to trap. And the last time I ate a wild rabbit from my backyard, the meat was sweet enough you’d think it had been marinated in corn syrup!

My family has been watching sales and canning or freezing meats. We’ve got 2 people on the keto diet who go through a lot of meat and dairy these days. Plus two others who are not on any diet, but they pretty much are always hungry, so they go through a lot of everything!

Last week we used the last of the home-grown potatoes. We’re planning a much bigger potato patch this year, and I’m hoping to add more sweet potatoes to the mix. Along with a bigger everything-else patch. I’m even testing a few carrot varieties that are supposed to be able to handle my soil. And I think I’ve mentioned my grain experiments. A grain polisher is on my appliance wishlist now, so I can control the amount of bran in my flours.

Things are going to get rough for a while. I said back when covid first started spreading, that the disruptions in the various supply lines would take at least 2 years to work themselves out, even if nothing else went wrong. And as we all know, plenty else has gone wrong, and will continue to go wrong. Be prepared, stock up, grow your own, or go without.

Huh. I haven’t noticed much being out of stock here in TX, although oftimes they’ll run out of something like peppers, but a day or two later they’re full up.

The only thing I’ve noticed is always low/out, is the can-rolls of biscuits/cinnamon rolls. Wife likes those, and they’re always out of most of those, except the croissant ones for some reason.

Sure, meat prices have gone way up - CK used to go on sale for $0.97/lb, GBeef(80/20 or 93/7) would be $2.50 or $3/lb, but now the cheapest ck sale is $2-2.50/lb, the beef is generally $4-5/lb. Sucks.

Ouch, $10 a box, and that doesn’t include shipping? Even Cracklin’ Oat Bran isn’t nearly that expensive!

I’m a Type 2 (down from Type 1) diabetic, and store cereals have way too much sugar/carbs, so I am just trying this product, and with zero sugar and 10-14 carbs, I can have cereal again.

Yea, I did notice they were on the healthy side, but that’s still crazy expensive for a box of cereal.

“... still crazy expensive for a box of cereal.”

I noticed that, too, just before I ordered the variety box, a few weeks ago.
