Officers also have jurisdiction throughout the District of Columbia to take enforcement action when they observe or are made aware of crimes of violence while on official duties.
Additionally, they are charged with the protection of members of Congress, officers of Congress, and their families throughout the entire United States, its territories and possessions, and the District of Columbia. While performing protective functions, the Capitol Police have jurisdiction throughout the entire United States.

Thompson and Cheney are flat liars. The president has nothing to do with the legal control of DC and hasn’t since May 2, 1828 when Congress passed an Act that expanded the police regulations of the City of Washington to include the Capitol and Capitol Square. It is on this date that the USCP commemorates its founding.

Nobody can stop President Trump from running in 2024.
The conclusion is already determined.
Given that the deep state did exactly this same play the first time he was elected, I would not be surprised in the least if this (thus far notional) DOJ "investigation" drags out through the next election as an "insurance policy" in case Trump or any republican who would be even remotely Trumplike in nature were somehow elected. Closing down this now (again, thus far notional) witch hunt investigation would be characterized in the media as a major scandal that shakes the very concept of justice to the core and the establishment would use it as an excuse to torpedo any of that future administration's actions. I can totally see that happening because that's already the lengths they went through in 2016 and they don't care that hundreds of people have spent months in jail on trespassing charges as political prisoners. To them, those people are not people.
I wish there was a law that forced a 3 generation skip in elected office holding of any kind.
