He should issue a statement confirming that the elections were stolen, that everyone in DC knows it, that heros tried to intervene, and that he failed in a critical moment yesterday and acknowledges that he doesn’t have the strength of character to lead, and therefore will let better men step forward.

Yeah it doesn’t matter that he is sponsoring a good bill that will be good for the country.

Every time I read this stuff about the covid cover-ups and restrictions, my blood pressure raises to an alarming degree. I am having to cut back on my news reading because it is all so frustrating and maddening.

This would be an acceptable action..pivoting to an act of introducing legislation doomed from the vet go that has nothjng to do with the protest of a fraudulent election means he’s not really sorry and he hopes everyone will forget he got caught letting what he really thinks slip out.

Will deplorable terrorists also be allowed to use monoclonal antibody therapeutics?

“The worst thing about being a conservative or a GOPer is that you can’t say you’re sorry… because one error condemns you for life.”

Almost did for Ted, his 2016 behavior at the RNC Convention.

And two more since. Jetting off to Cancun while Texans were literally freezing to death, and now this crap.

Bottom line - the GOP base WILL NOT fully turn out for him in 2024 and thus there is no way he can win in November of that year, not in Texas at least.

His run was good, but we lose with him in Nov. 2024, it won’t even be close.

I just knew this thread would be a pig pile. At least I will give him credit for doing something good, even if I think he made a stupid, ridiculous statement about a “terrorist attack” on Jan 6.

"While I am not happy about Cruz’s comments, this business of the right throwing people under the bus for ONE indiscretion, is NOT helping."

Bears repeating! It is the left that has no mercy. The left adheres to "pound of flesh" Old Testament style revenge. The right believes in mercy and redemption.

To quote Shakespeare in this most famous passage from Merchant of Venice.

Spoken by gentle Portia (in disguise) to "pound of flesh" Skylark:

The quality of mercy is not strained. It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven Upon the place beneath. It is twice blest: It blesseth him that gives and him that takes.

O.K. This is good. I want to see the co-sponsors and expect Mitch to be on the top.

Politics is a dirty game. No politician is 100% on “your” side, and the left understands this.

If we want to say that Ted’s a terrible awful irredeemable swamp creature, the next question is “compared to what?”

I don’t see an immediately better option from my perch here in Texas.

You have someone specifically in mind?

“It’s not up to you or I to decide his fate. It’s up to his voters to decide if they like being called terrorists.”

That’s now my problem with him. Cruz gets my November vote hands-down (if it says “R” in November, I vote for the person)...and that is only because of what the Democrats have become).

But there is still a VERY LARGE Conservative voting block who simply won’t vote for anyone who insults them, seems aloof from their needs, or whatever. That block doesn’t care if the Democrat wins (either because they’re too lazy to try to understand Democrats, or because they look at voting for someone as a personal endorsement).

Whatever the cause of not supporting him, Cruz needs ALL of the GOP to win, he clearly doesn’t have that now. He’s badly damaged (three major, unforced, errors now), and I really doubt he can win back those people. Thus, he needs to go.

Why is such legislation even necessary? In a Federal System like ours, the 10th Amendment applies.

And please don’t give me the Commerce clause. This is strictly a states rights issue in my view.

Ted has definitely talked about voter fraud in the 2020 election. You could apply that standard to just about every Republican.

No one wants any flesh. His was more than a small error, it was absolutely disqualifying. This is not a game; Cruz is not fit for a leadership role in this existential struggle for our Country. I’d still feed him if he was hungry, but wouldn’t ever trust his judgement.
