I agree, redgolum, individuals can be that ignorant. I just don't believe the majority of this bench thinks that way at all.

I would bet they are that ignorant. Most state and lower level fed judges I have had personal (non judicial) contact with believe they are a special class, exempt from rules us plebes have to follow.
They crave the power and prestige. The Dems threatening to add three or more justices to the bench is enough to get them to rule the “right” way.
What does someone with a huge ego fear more than death? Losing prestige.
