Former Vice President Dick Cheney paid a surprise visit to the Capitol on Thursday, as Democrats in Congress solemnly marked the one-year anniversary of the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol.
The former vice president told reporters he was there to support his daughter, Liz Cheney, the Wyoming Republican who is vice chair of the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 attack. But he also wanted to come to Washington to commemorate the dark day.

What’s funny is I remember back in 2004, at election time, Eminem did a video that ended with protesters charging the Capitol Building causing Dick Cheney to have a heart attack.

It's a disease. When I was a young man, I first noticed it when I watched Senator Al D'Amato get stricken with it and it quickly ate away his political career. He was a good conservative, willing to get nose-to-nose in fights with Democrats. But then he got soft on some forgotten issue, and the NY Times wrote a mildly positive piece about him.
He spent the rest of his brief career after that chasing that warm and wonderful moment when the left pretended to like and respect him long enough to alienate him from his base and give them the opening to wipe his political persona off the face of the earth
Dick Cheney's got the same disease with different motivations. He's worried about what they're going to write about him when he dies any day now. He watched The McCain Corpse tour playing to sold out out venues across the country and he wants some of that post-mortem love for himself. It's pathetic, but he's old and broken.
