God has commanded that we pray for our leaders. After today’s speech, those prayers, for this Lutheran, will be the closest a Lutheran ever comes to an act of penance.
Anything else I would say would simply compound the need for repentance; I have to remind myself that when Paul was led to write the command, the leader he was thinking of was Nero.
