California’s mask mandate for indoor public settings will remain in place until at least Feb. 15, officials announced.
The state’s Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly made the announcement on Jan. 5, citing a rise in COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations.
The statewide mandate was scheduled to expire on Jan. 15, one month after it was reintroduced.
Among the indoor public spaces affected are retail stores, restaurants, theaters, family entertainment centers, and government offices.
Ghaly said residents should consider wearing higher-grade masks, not simply scarves or loose-fitting cloth face-coverings. He said many masks that people donned in the early days of the pandemic are “not as helpful today,” urging people to consider masks that are well-fitted on the face without gaps or ventilators.
Ghaly said that as of Jan. 5, 8,000 hospitalized patients tested positive for COVID-19. He couldn’t provide a breakdown of how many patients were admitted for reasons other than COVID-19 and only discovered they were infected when they were tested at the hospital.
"until at least...."
Bye bye Super Bowl.
Oh, goody...means Oregon is next...course they are already trying to make it permanent.
I work about a mile from the main tourist district in Grapevine, numerous restaurants and wine bars.
Hope those suckers enjoy paying $400 for a parking spot, and walking two miles to the "Stay-Jum".
LOL, the mood with Cowboys fans has now turned to the dark side in just one week. Jerry will be watching the NFC title game from his yacht, because the Cowboys won't be in it.
Apparently I cannot sit at a poker table and order shrimp fried rice.
I can sit at the poker table and touch the cards and chips everyone else touches for hours on end. And I can sit in the restaurant adjacent to the poker room and order shrimp fried rice. I just can’t do both at the same time. “until at least...”
I guess it’s a good thing I don’t do either anyway.
How many two weeks have they had in the last two years?
We’re coming up on the hundredth “two weeks” pretty soon.

According to reports tonight - Vegas is the First choice
CA is lost. I understand the LAtimes just did a story on migration to TN.
Well, something worthy of news is the entire mid-state of TN just removed all vehicle emission tests effective Jan 14.
TPTB said if it is due now go ahead and “roll the dice” you will not be charged.
I kid you not.
And millions of red state residents extend California the middle finger.
“And millions of red state residents extend California the middle finger.”
I wish. Most of the people in this state, even those who vote republican are sheep. They were told to wear their masks and they will.
I should clarify, I’m in LA County and everyone here willingly gives up their rights. In the central valley in the northern part of the state they probably are resisting.
Sorry to hear it. Come join us in deep red America. We don’t wear no stinkin’ masks. 😁
Nothing is more stupid than a restaurant that requires you to put on a mask to walk to your table ten feet away from the door and only then you can drop the mask if you are "actively eating or drinking."
Come on, NFL. Move the Super Bowl out of California before it is too late. Florida and Texas will take the game (Florida preferably because of the likelihood of better weather in Mid-February).
Or “at least until” Gavin is appointed Reichsfuhher for life!
