Starting Jan. 4, 2022, only vaccine receipts with QR codes will be accepted at businesses where vaccine passports are required.
As of Jan. 4, 2022, Ontarians will need to have enhanced COVID-19 vaccine certificates with a scannable QR code if they want to eat inside restaurants, go to movie theatres, gyms, concert venues, and other non-essential businesses that require proof of vaccination.
Currently, vaccine passports are only required for those aged 12 and older.
The old versions of vaccine certificates without a scannable QR code will no longer be accepted. Those who have a medical exemption will also need a verified certificate with a QR code, as doctor’s notes will no longer be accepted as of Jan. 10.

And don’t forget: you will need to continue to show a piece of ID with your name and date of birth along with your proof of vaccination.

How will businesses check QR codes?
Businesses can download the Verify Ontario app, which can be used to scan the QR codes. If the patron is fully vaccinated, the business will see a checkmark and the person’s name and date of birth, which is to be checked against their ID.
The app is available in both Apple and Google app stores.
Who will be responsible for enforcing the use of QR codes?
Provincial offence officers are in charge of enforcing the Reopening Ontario Act, which includes certain businesses verifying vaccine certificates, proper PPE practices and contact tracing.

I told you so.
I have a dumb phone. A minute tracfone for car emergencies and so on. Does not know about QR or most texting of today.
As a Luddite I hate technology. Everything that comes into the modern tech addicted mind comes out “make an app” or “put it on a smartphone.” “Now on podcast wherever you get podcasts.”
It reminds me of muddy water flowing in little rivulets downhill and all ending up in a mud puddle at the bottom:
Tech. Internet. Smart Phone. App.
As a Luddite I hate technology.

But time marches on. If not you’d be walking
or riding some animal for transportation..
Note you are using the internet to communicate
as opposed to verbal in person chat.
If you have vaccine card, what do you need to do to get the QR code?
Doesn’t mean I have to like it or approve of it.
Everybody knows I have a landline phone (yes, with that ultra modern thing on it the touchpad). but I have no bluetooth or wireless entertainment devices. I have never used the Xfinity remote voice commands and my Samsung TV is not set up to the HULU and YouTube, etc. internet link.
I use CDs and DVDs and am on the basic lowest cable (almost nothing on it). No streaming.
As for “riding an animal for transportation” I hope that wasn’t intended as a slam against my ox. I won’t tell her.
OK. I’ve written enough in pencil on my yellow legal pad. Time to ask my wife to post it on FR. See you later.
as a former Kanuck, i have 99% reasons to hate on my former homeland.
Except stripe clubs.
Canadian strip clubs are full frontal, with a shower scene and better dj’s. There is a major reason why American kids cross the border into BC and ON. In america, it’s HALF NUDE 90%of the time. Not in Canada and 17 (was) the year of admittance. How do I know this? Well, I used to clean a certain strip club in Vancouver when I was 15 for cash.
Nope no slander against your ox. Rode a horse many miles as
a youngster prior to be allowed to drive. Used a horse to
round up cattle and a mule or horse to plow the gardens, etc.
QR code required everywhere in Quebec.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Supposed to go there next month... hopefully, one could still check into a hotel, go to a grocery store and do a pickup for food with a QR, right? I know that New Brunswick tried to pull the QR thing for grocery stores a month or so but I believe the outcry was so great it got rescinded...
?
Sheer lunacy. In my part of Alaska we were back to normal ops in May 2020. We also never had a mask mandate, and certainly no vax mandate. Covid is a total non-issue here.
I broke it ...... try again my friend.
Shemya ......? :o)
Wasilla. Shemya is US Government property, so mask mandate is in effect there.
QR code was not asked for at the hotel check-in, or for taxi ride...but was for every restaurant, bar, and, ahem, gentlemens club we went into.
and for hockey games
Thanks, hate to say it but I would have my Covid-19 QR code tattooed on my big, fat ass. If they want to see it, OK here it is!
Never needed to visit Canada anyways.
Still working fur Me.
Did You SCAN it with a Smartphone ?
OPEN Camera and let it Focus on the QRC Block Image, it should open on the Phone from that.
The moment you accept that the government can require the QR code for injection status in order to move about, you’ve accepted the the government can require you to do anything to maintain your QR status: Be allowed to drive your car. Be allowed to leave your home. Give full access to all your online IDs and passwords. Patronize only certain government approved large corporations. Surrender your guns. Maintain a credit score of 800+, Go to CRT training. Submit to psych exams to make sure you’re thinking the correct thoughts. Give your kids to the state. Get sterilized/neutered. Denounce God...
Yeah I was stationed there .....
