WASHINGTON (AP) — The Pentagon said Thursday it has streamlined the approval process for urgent use of National Guard forces in the District of Columbia, after months of study following the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

The changes give the defense secretary sole authority to approve requests that would involve D.C. National Guard personnel participating in civil law enforcement or that would require their deployment within 48 hours, Pentagon press secretary John Kirby said in a written statement. That approval authority had previously been delegated to the Army secretary, the service’s top civilian official....

...Prior to the riot, then-Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy handled requests for Guard deployments in the district, initially from the commander of the D.C. Guard. McCarthy acted in consultation with more senior Pentagon officials, including Christopher Miller, the acting secretary of defense at the time, and Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.....

DC Mayor's role has been scrubbed from the narrative, but interestingly, the little easter egg reminder that McCarthy had to clear action with....Milley...., who, we may remember, is the wackadoodle sworn enemy of Trump who would do anything to cast a bad reflection on Trump, who had previously requested, and been denied, NG for the rally.

It is easier to change the rules, then admit the civilian and military leadership responsible for protecting the Capital Building refused to take action when they should have.

I received this in an email this morning.

Yah - it happened

It was intense. I don't know when it will air -but soon.

So, I spent the afternoon in Austin, Texas. Met the amazing Joe Rogan. Someone speaking truth to power. The talk was intense and honest and mind blowing.

I will let you all know when the interview airs - as soon as i know it.

(Snoop the dog, Joe and I in the photo above)

Stay tuned.

Oh, and come to the damn rally - we need you!

Here is the statement that Acting SecDef Chris Miller made on Jan. 6th:

Statement by Acting Secretary Miller on Full Activation of D.C. National Guard

Chairman Milley and I just spoke separately with the Vice President and with Speaker Pelosi, Leader McConnell, Senator Schumer and Representative Hoyer about the situation at the U.S. Capitol. We have fully activated the D.C. National Guard to assist federal and local law enforcement as they work to peacefully address the situation. We are prepared to provide additional support as necessary and appropriate as requested by local authorities. Our people are sworn to defend the constitution and our democratic form of government and they will act accordingly.

I recall this statement from Miller causing some outrage here on FR on Jan. 6th, since it appears that Trump was not involved in the decision to activate the D.C. National Guard to clear the Capitol.

Are you actually citing hearsay from Mark Milley who committed high treason when he -- unknown to President Trump -- pre-surrendered to the People's Liberation Army?

Are you a Chinese agent?

Please read my post again. The announcement that I shared in my post was made by acting SecDef Chris Miller on Jan. 6th 2020.

I’m curious, do you find it at all troubling that Trump doesn’t appear to have been involved in the decision to deploy the DC National Guard to secure the Capitol? What do you imagine he was doing that could have had higher priority?

Sorry, I should have said “Jan. 6th, 2021.”
