Central Michigan moves to face Washington State in Sun Bowl; Arizona Bowl canceled [not for woke reasons] as COVID-19 disrupts football bowl season

Central Michigan will now play Washington State in the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl on Friday, a move that allows both teams to play in a bowl game.

Both teams lost opponents to COVID-19 issues. Miami withdrew from the Sun Bowl on Sunday, sending the bowl scrambling for an opponent for the Cougars. That spot was filled by the Chippewas after their scheduled opponent, Boise State, withdrew from the Barstool Arizona Bowl on Monday.

‘Both teams lost opponents to COVID-19 issues.’

in other words, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with these players, but the adults that have been running the virus mitigation say they can’t play...

I’m also looking forward to the inevitable freeper getting on this thread solemnly telling us we must dispense with sports altogether...

We need a new sport—feeding “experts” to the lions.

That would get folks doing some serious high fiving!

There is more to it than covid in many cases. Now that College football has the transfer portal, some of these teams have multiple players in key starting roles who have entered the portal and wouldn’t be available to play. I think Covid is simply an excuse for many of these teams to keep from being embarrassed by lesser teams.

You'd have to be pretty stupid to not know that their C-19 scam is easily treated and even prevented with common OTC supplements and ultra safe drugs.

ARTICLE Early treatment protocol

These two doctors have treated >7000 C-19 patients with ZERO casualties and almost all recover from home. I am one of those treated by Dr. Fareed.

I don't think we should eliminate college sports. I do think that college athletes who get athletic scholarships should pay an income tax on the retail value of the scholarship. At least a state income tax so that that states' taxpayers get back some of what they fund at public-supported colleges.

And the schools should have to pay federal and state income taxes on the profit-making sports, the same way a small religious group who buys a strip mall, sets up services in one space and rents the rest of the property has to pay taxes.

As far as professional sports? They are committing suicide anyway. As the (pick an ethnic group) doctor told the Anglo guy who caught a disease from a (same ethnic group) prostitute; "No need to cut that off. It will fall off on its own."

Perfect timing for Central Michigan.

They were in Phoenix, only a four-five hour bus ride from El Paso.

They were ready to play and didn’t have to get back into game prep mode like Rutgers had to when Texas A&M backed out of the Gator Bowl.

IF it was done by Pay Per View & the money raised went to GOP candidates-—NOT the GOP direct, then it would really be a success.

Google maps says 6 1/2 hours via I-10, an interstate.

Phoenix is 53 with rain showers. El Paso is 52 and sunny.

Calculation says 430 % 60 is 7 hours, 430 % 80 is 5.3 hours.

I think college sports should only be aired on PBS.

Take the profit motive out of it to see who really loves the sport.

Besides these schools are public government institutions. Why shouldn’t they support public government TV?
