What Do We Do with the FBI Now?

The events of the past five or six years have demonstrated to America that the FBI is no longer the unbiased law enforcement agency it once was. Between the Hillary Clinton investigation-in-name-only, the Crossfire Hurricane hoax, the targeting of Americans as domestic terrorists, and playing three blind mice with the Biden graft machine, the bureau’s issues can’t be ignored any longer. If we don’t take corrective action soon, the FBI will finish its transition from law enforcement to being a political functionary advancing the interests of one party.

There are only two options: rehabilitate the FBI, or eliminate it. The current state is unacceptable in a functioning constitutional republic. We need a credible and competent federal law enforcement capability. Sadly, the FBI has lost it claim on both those things.

A company I once worked for ran afoul of equal opportunity employment regulations. It was essentially placed on probation for a period of five years. That probation came in the form of a consent decree -- an agreement between the parties to resolve the problems, overseen by a court, and often verified by a court-appointed administrator. It’s time for a consent decree between the FBI and the American people.

An FBI consent decree is definitely going to need oversight, and not by the Department of Justice. The current problems have festered under DoJ oversight for years. The DoJ has not only failed to provide course correction to the FBI, it has arguably contributed to the problems. The rebuilding of the FBI should be overseen by a board chartered with the mission of rehabilitation, and staffed with people who care about integrity and understand what a well-functioning police organization should look like.

Start with FBI files. Everyone has one on them. Let’s find out if it’s true. Then let the people see them.

If you disband it: -Are there functions it performs that can't be done effectively by the state bureaus of investigation? -And what happens if there is a corrupt state bureau of investigation?

Here is what the FBI claims to do, from justice.com.
The FBI's major priorities are to:

• Protect the United States from terrorist attack.
• Protect the U.S. against foreign intelligence, espionage, and cyber operations.
• Protect the United States against cyber-based attacks and high-technology crimes.
• Combat significant cybercriminal activity.
• Combat public corruption at all levels.
• Protect civil rights.
• Combat transnational criminal enterprises.
• Combat significant white-collar crime.
• Combat significant violent crime.

If you reform it, why stop with a 5 year consent decree? Set up something permanent. Large police forces have internal audit teams but they tend to answer to the same people at the top. FBI probably already has something like that. But it's not working.

You have an inspector general that hasn't been effective at policing the FBI and has only been partly effective at uncovering abuses after the fact.

You also need citizen advocates in front of the FISA court. And they should have the power to double check claims made by the FBI to the FISA court.

I think you need a group that is external to the FBI. One that doesn't sit across the aisle from them. One that does operational audits, looks for abuse, looks for political unbalance, etc.

Maybe peel off some of those responsibilities into separate units.

FBI Challenge and Review Board (FCRB) Answers to a board consisting of judges and Congressmen

• Look into political abuse by the FBI.
• Look into civil rights violations by the FBI.
• Look into disciplinary actions or lack thereof.
• Looks into fiscal controls and programs where money is not currently well controlled. (Thinking gun running, False flags, overpaying informants, etc)
• Looks into charges of FBI entrapment.
• Should have the power to bring charges.

Have oversight boards over each, that include retired judges, judges that wouldn't have a conflict of interest, Citizen Legal advocates from both parties, Civil Rights advocates, Prison system advocates, Others
