Putin is ambitious. And back in Soviet times, if one had ambition, working through the Party and KGB was the only game in town. I think Putin knows from experience that Communism is a failed system.
The Tsars were every bit as authoritarian and expansionist as the current Russian government, yet we had cordial relations with them, even made the deal with them to get Alaska.

I have filled in many applications, have never seen one that asked for “gender.” They have a place to check “M” or “F”.

The Frankfurt school (communist infiltrators from Europe) originated all that, long ago, inside the United States, not Putin. And there have been antagonistic, home-grown forces that hated Christianity from about day one in the United States. Until modern times, they were held in check.
Ronald Reagan correctly referred to the Soviet Union as the Evil Empire. How ironic that a short thirty years later, the Russian leader would be championing the Christian church and try to protect his nation from the evil influences of the West.
Putin was a KGB operative during the Soviet era. It was his job. When the Soviet Union fell he worked for the newly liberated Russian republic. He may be an opportunist but he’s not a communist.
Indeed, as Olavo said, do not listen to their discourse, conservative or socialist, because they will always say what you want to hear. Instead go after the crooked characters.
I talk to regular Russians, and they are no less schizophrenic about gender de-differentiation and confusion than we are. Freud really opened the floodgates of hatred of God and of schizophrenia when he loosely interpreted Weininger for his psychoanalysis on gender. Weininger never implied to encourage people to let themselves to their natural inclinations
