GOP Rep. Tom Rice has said he regrets voting to sustain objections to the 2020 presidential election results in two states on Jan. 6 — and said former President Donald Trump was “responsible” for the riot that ravaged the Capitol that day.

Rice (R-SC) told Politico Wednesday that while he still believes there were “real issues with the election,” he wishes he had voted differently.

According to the outlet, Rice is believed to be the first GOP member of Congress to publicly disavow his Jan. 6 vote.

“In retrospect, I should have voted to certify,” Rice said. “Because President Trump was responsible for the attack on the Capitol.”

Rice also called the 45th president a “coward” and claimed Trump watched the violence “with pride” and “did nothing to stop it.”

Rice was one of 147 House and Senate Republicans who voted in support of objections to the results in Arizona and Pennsylvania on Jan. 6. However, he was also one of 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump over the riot just seven days later.

Pelosi is ramping up this circus trial to ban Trump from running. That’s what all this press is along with the 1/6 “memorial” Our Republic is under attack.

Yep, all political at many levels for many reasons. Right know they are throwing it all at the wall to see what sticks.

Great. What poll?? Can you post the link?

Being the anti-Trump candidate has left Jaime Herrera Beutler, Liz Cheney and Tom Rice little chance of winning their primaries. Cheney and Herrera Beutler's challengers lead them by double and Tom Rice polls below 20% on the ballot test. Earlier this year anti-Trump candidate Rep. Anthony Gonzales decide to not seek re-election because of no path to victory in Ohio
