You really think parents are spending it on the kids?
I just retired from a district labeled a poverty district. I had a child on a feeding tube & other issues. You could always tell when his government check came. His 2 “moms” would come to school with new hair, decked out nails,etc. Meanwhile I had to beg them for diapers & towels as he spit up a lot.
Everyone at my school has stories. The saddest are the moms who came all decked out & their child(ren) looked like they spent the night in the forest.
Color me jaded.
