Does anyone think South Dakota is going to elect a Democrat?
Personally, the more GOP war hoses that retire and make room for young blood, the better. They may not be better, but they certainly won’t be worse.

At one time, South Dakota was represented in the U.S. Senate by James Abourezk and George McGovern, two of the most Liberal Democrats in the body.
They have before... but in a mid year election with a democrat in the white house... let alone the walking vegetable democrat in there presently???
Unless there is something HUGELY wrong with the GOP candidate that runs, or some local politics in SD that create an anti GOP backlash (Scandal around governor or something), not going to happen.
Those paying the post election night ballot harvesters and counters say "yes".
And this would be the ideal year for the old warhorses to retire. This means YOU, Chuck Grassley. Excellent Senator for many years, but has no business running again now. And there are others.
