An employee of the city of Birmingham Mayor’s Office was arrested over the weekend on felony charges.
Uche Bean, 32, was arrested late Friday night by Birmingham police.
Police officials have not yet responded to a request for additional information about the allegations and charges against Bean. Bean said she declined to comment at this time.
Bean was held in the Birmingham City Jail until warrants were obtained Sunday charging her with second-degree domestic violence and third-degree burglary, jail records show.
Bean, deputy director of Mayor Randall Woodfin’s Division of Social Justice and Racial Equity, was then booked into the Jefferson County Jail at 8:45 p.m. Sunday and released at 10:27 p.m. after posting $30,000 bond.
Bean has served in the mayor’s office for more than three years and was appointed to her current position in November, according to her LinkedIn profile.
Rick Journey, director of communications for the City of Birmingham, released this statement to AL.com:
“We are aware of an incident that occurred over the weekend. This is a personal matter and not related to any city activity. It is currently under investigation. There will be no other statement at this time.”
…until what is likely.
Not CERTAIN. JUST “likely”.
What the hell kind of name is Uche?
Perfect posting! LOL 🤣
A look on FB makes me think it’s African. And male.
Rick Journey’s father is (was) named ‘Grover’.
These “positions” are such a joke. Hire an open angry racist to punish whitey and orientals and promote unqualified blacks to powerful positions.
Probably gets paid plenty. I’m guessing the domestic violence and burglary is related to a same-sex relationship.
It is African and female. My daughter had a classmate with the same name. It's a shortened version of a longer name that starts with the same letters.
OMG, I just realized she's the same age as my daughter!
Her mother, a product of Birmingham's public schools was still reacting to child birth and misspelled Ouch on the birth certificate?
I am being charitable here
So? Who does this surprise?
Bean Uche A Overview
Bean Uche A in 2019 was employed in City of Birmingham and had annual salary of $50,036 according to public records.
I wonder if being a convicted felon will get her fired. Assuming it ever gets to court.
