As for ICU beds, 72% are currently in use. Of these ICU beds, approximately 25% are in use for COVID patients.
By way of comparison, the national average for hospital bed utilization at the moment is about 77%, with 9% being for COVID patients. For ICU beds, the national "in use" averages are approximately 78%, with 20% being for COVID patients.
Based on the HHS's figures, there is no apparent crisis at the moment in Illinois. At least in terms of hospital beds, that is.
