It seems like the tests are not very accurate. How would they be able to tell that a death was because of a specific variant of COVID? How would they know for sure COVID was the driving factor in a death, especially when they don’t go beyond what the damn tests tell them?

quick answer; they don’t...in fact, they have never known that covid was a driving factor in any death, it was enough for them that a covid presence was detected, and that jutified an inclusion on one of the death cert lines...
and thus, we have a covid death...
