COVID-19 hospitalizations plunged more than 90% in South Africa as the new, more contagious omicron variant crowds out delta.
The country reports “a much lower rate of hospital admissions and signs that the wave of infections may be peaking,” according to Bloomberg.
Omicron first hit South Africa, and hit hard.
Correction: Omicron hit a lot — hard, not so much.
Fewer than 2% of detected COVID cases required hospital admissions in the second week of this omicron wave, compared with nearly 20% in the second week of the delta wave. That’s according to South African Health Minister Joe Phaahla.
Bloomberg can’t help but indulge in a little fear-mongering, reminding readers that “new cases in that week of the current wave were more than 20,000 a day, compared with 4,400 in the same week of the third wave. That’s further evidence of omicron’s rapid transmissibility.”
Well, so what?
Omicron, as I reported last week, presents at worst as a mild flu:
“Mild” is the same word used by Angelique Coetzee, the South African doctor who was one of the first to identify the latest variant. People she treated with omicron had symptoms “so different and so mild from those I had treated before,” she said.
Virtually all of Netcare’s patients “presented with mild to moderate flu-like symptoms, including a blocked or runny nose, headache and a scratchy or sore throat,” according to a summary by News24.
“Take a NyQuil and don’t bother calling me in the morning,” is pretty much what my doctor would tell me to do with those symptoms, provided they didn’t get any worse.

The moe rapid and complete the transmission of this version will do far more than he death shots to render the population immune, herd immunity as it were, and any deaths attributed to it will be only that, “attributed” as in assigned.
They ae likely more frantic to keep people from getting the new one because it confers immunity for real and on the cheap.
I don’t mess with twitter at all or fb for any sort of news but I bet news that Omicron is not lethal and does confer immunity will be censored.That is not useful information to our would be masters.

More than a week ago a friend of mine from the gym who is a doctor and a Trump hating liberal but understands the CCP virus has been politicized, believes in HCQ and Ivermectin, does not believe in vaccine mandates and believes natural immunity overrides any vaccine- more than a week ago he told me if the data coming out of SA continues to hold this should be the end of the CCP virus. Let it rip through society, let everyone get it and that will be the end of it.
Alas we both agreed that will never happen in the America of zhao biden.

Some math:
2% of 20,000 is 400 cases of Omicron requiring hospitalization per day.
20% of 4400 is 880 cases of delta requiring hospitalization per day.
That is very good news.
Capital DESTROYS. Nothing could be further from the truth. Breathless headlining with internet buzzwords. I am surprised he didn’t use the word “just” which is the most popular word on the internet, ahead of “and” and “the”. Guess what? The narrative as dictated by the CCP and our media and politicians is fully intact.
A doctor on Fox news said that Omicron may be like a gift from God. It appears to impart superior immunity to Covid over any of the vaccines and perhaps better than prior Covid infections. And it seems to be safer than the vaccines.
