ORLANDO, Fla. -- Even though there have been practically no cases of clinical infection, wastewater samples show that the new omicron variant is now the dominant strain of COVID-19 in the Florida county that is home to the nation's largest theme park resorts, officials said this week.
The omicron variant has quickly surpassed the delta variant in collections taken from wastewater sampling sites in Orange County, officials said.

Right now the neighbor’s husky is a greater threat than Omicron.
“Are they really doing full genome on sewage?”
****
I think they look for partial genome, and the smaller the piece you look for, the more you find.
“Why in God’s name are we taking the word of proven serial liars for anything?!”
Because this crap is posted here constantly.
It’s out there. I know people who know people who had it and died, for real!
I think the whole damn thing was a plan to kill, frighten, destroy the economy, and take control over every part of our lives. Depopulate or else! Control or else!
“Omicron is dominant in wastewater samples in Florida county”
I would have thought water, urine, and poop would be dominant. That must be one heck of a Chinese lab that’s filling Florida sewers with their new version of Wuhan Flu!
You should try the alkali water in the Rocky Mountains states. We had to carry water from a city faucet back in 1956. The well water was so bad it was only used for washing and bathing.
I accidentally swallowed some at the Bottomless Lakes swimming pool back then. Thought I was gonna die! (or puke my guts out)
I’m sorry you lost people.
So have we.
None to the coof.
As for whether or not there are variants, well when Deep State has seen to it that they have a monopoly on the vast majority of all testing, PCR and genomic, being done, that doesn’t inspire confidence in me.
I don't know what strain I had, because it wasn't tested. But in August (I am in SW Florida), my COVID was extremely debilitating. Knocked me on my ass for two weeks. I should have gone to the hospital, but was afraid of the Remdesivir and ventilator death sentence. If that was Delta, it was severe.
Sulfur water— found in natural artesian Florida and Georgia water. Agree, smells bad, but tests... clean most times. The water derives from the dissolved minerals that contain sulfate, naturally in ground water- minerals like gypsum and epsomite.
Aside from the smell a bigger concern would be the excess magnesium or sodium sulfate that dissolves in the water which though one is drinking water in normal amounts, causes dehydration.

More evidence it’s mild. It’s the “dominant strain” yet people do not feel bad enough to get tested.
Maybe they are spreading it using chem trails?
“I suspect of variant detection in poop samples.”
Interesting idea, but unlikely such difference would cause such a difference in samples, and if so there’d be emerging GI cases due to it. But it seems people don’t even know they have it.
24/7 propaganda.
“going from nothing to 100% in such a short time is quite the accomplishment. What happened to Delta?”
This is how Omicron moves - the fastest variant by far.
It became dominant over Delta in Johannesburg (the 26th biggest city on Earth) just two weeks after it was first detected. No other COVID variant had been able to take dominance from Delta, anywhere on Earth. Omicron not only did it, but it did it much faster than any COVID variant has every risen to dominance.
Omicron case numbers typically double every 2-3 days. In London recently, it was doubling every 1.5 days.
It will likely be the dominant strain in the USA on Christmas (next week), even if the test results have not yet reflected it (as they have not yet in Orlando, even though it can be seen in the current sewage).
Because it grows so fast, the peak of case numbers will likely be higher, before it starts to run out new hosts (approaches herd immunity threshold).
“If that was Delta”
In August, in Florida, it was almost certainly Delta.
That is the rough stuff.
Viruses don’t exist/quickly get destroyed outside of their hosts - living cells. They have no biological machinery to exist on their own. Doubtful they can be detected in the waste water…
Unless the “testers” run PCR hundreds of times and will target and detect, supposedly, remnants/pieces of viral RNA. If that’s the case, then anything can be found anywhere… seems like another attempt to scare the general public of “dangerous” omicron, whatever the hell it is…
Delta was the prevailing strain in Florida in August — sounds like delta. You were lucky.
“Unless the “testers” run PCR hundreds of times and will target and detect, supposedly, remnants/pieces of viral RNA. If that’s the case, then anything can be found anywhere . . .”

That’s exactly what I’ve heard about these wastewater tests.

I don’t understand how one moving in makes the other go away, though.
