Washington (AFP) – Former US first lady Melania Trump on Thursday launched her own NFT platform, the latest public figure to join the crypto boom.
A non-fungible token (NFT) is a digital object that can be a drawing, animation, piece of music, photo, or video with a certificate of authenticity created by blockchain technology. This authentication by a network of computers is considered inviolable.
A portion of the proceeds from Melania Trump's NFT collection will be used to help children in foster care.
"I am proud to announce my new NFT endeavor, which embodies my passion for the arts, and will support my ongoing commitment to children through my Be Best initiative," Trump said in a statement.
The first NFT, a watercolor by the French artist Marc-Antoine Coulon titled "Melania's Vision," will be available for purchase through the end of the year for the price of 1 SOL, the cryprocurrency of the Solana blockchain protocol, (approximately $150).
The limited-edition piece of digital artwork "embodies Mrs. Trump’s cobalt blue eyes, providing the collector with an amulet to inspire," according to the statement. It also includes an audio recording from Melania Trump "with a message of hope."
The Melania Trump NFT platform will run on Solana and will accept both the SOL cryptocurrency and credit card payments.

Shessuch a classy and caring lady
I don’t understand NFTs or crypto-currency at all, you are buying something that does not exist only on computers? Whaaat?
I was thinking, as last lady, what has Dr. Jill done besides screech to people that her brain dead husband is running for a second term? She seems to belong to the Kamala Klub, she doesn’t do anything.
You have piece of paper with a dead president that the government says its worth $1 or $20, except they print more and more, which eventually devaluates it. Verses a company that says we have only $400 million bit coins and no more will be available. So as more people buy it and the quantity runs out it becomes more valuable. People will sell it and others will buy it. Over time it only become more valuable due to scarcity. So you have paper running on a press becoming more worthless, or crypto currency thst becomes more desirable to hedge off inflation.

How can I obtain the “0” and the “1”?
That’s all I want.

I watched a Robert Kiyosaki video yesterday:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2G77Y6xyMs
He says he doesn’t want cash that constantly loses value, and only puts his money in other things like metals (calls them God’s money) and crypto (which has a fixed quantity unlike paper cash).
OK I can understand that, but what if another company comes up with bitcoins? Or are you saying “Bitcoin” is the name of the company? This is very strange
Who hasn't watched his Buy Gold, Buy Silver, commercials on Fox?
Isn't he the guy who wrote the investment guide "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" and still hawking the book?
You mean you didn’t see her on that Thanksgiving television special with Trisha Yearwood? Jill and Trisha were cooking up a meal. Not to mention, Trisha was loving every minute being a fan of Jill and all.
I just happen to stumble across the show a few weeks ago.
Can somebody please explain this so my old ancient brain?
I was at a mall a couple days ago. There was a vending machine selling Bitcoin. What? I don't know how the transaction is done, or what gets spit out of the machine if you insert your credit card and buy bitcoin. I would buy from a human that could explain what it means, and how to use it. As I understand it, you get a personal account number and passcode that describes what you own. Lose that, and you lose the value forever.
