There are currently 488 media professionals imprisoned around the world, the highest number since Reporters Without Borders began counting more than 25 years ago, the organisation announced Thursday.
By contrast, the number killed this year – 46 – was the lowest since it began issuing annual tallies, due to the relative stabilisation of conflicts in the Middle East.
"The number of journalists detained in connection with their work has never been this high since Reporters Without Borders began publishing its annual round-up in 1995," the group, which battles for freedom of the press, said in a statement.
The number has risen by some 20 percent over the past year thanks largely to crackdowns on the media in Myanmar, Belarus and Hong Kong.
The group said it had also never seen so many female journalists detained, with 60 representing a third more than in 2020.
China once again has the highest number of imprisoned journalists at 127, said the group, which has routinely lambasted Beijing over what it describes as an "unprecedented crackdown" on press freedoms.

Another term for international reporter is CIA agent. So if they are in jail its likely they were uncovered. CNN and NBC are all CIA. Also, China programs all Comcast (owner of NBC) boxes. They know what you are watching. And they know all the journalists. They also know all the US government employees through their data hacks of the government. So, China knows all our spies.
Yeah, but none from the United States because "Journalist" actually means Marxist Agitator in America.

So many journalists left, so little time.
This wouldn’t have happened if those greedy, selfish, racist, journalists would have just followed the narrative given to them by the DemonicRat party. Just like they do in the USA.
