At Sam's Club (same owners as Walmart) they have a great phone app for self checkout. As you wander the store, you scan your items as you fill your cart and pay for the purchase as well. The only checkout line is for someone to look at a QR code on your phone and count your items. This has made Sam's a great place to stop if I want a few items in a hurry.
Before that app, I was on the verge of canceling my Sam's membership. The lines are unreal. I took this photo a couple of weeks ago:
This is the line you have to get in before you are in the actual checkout line (self or otherwise). If you look closely you will see that it goes all the way to the back of the store. It makes it almost impossible to even shop on that aisle because so many people are in line.
Zero interest in standing in a line or waiting to pay.
Yeah. I was in a Sam’s about 8 months ago but their cashier’s were keeping the lines moving.
Agreed. I am a fan of Sam’s Scan-n-Go. It has increased my patronage of the store significantly by reducing a lot of frustration.
I love Scan&Go. I’m amazed to see people that still stand in line, the app works great. I guess it is a method of self-checkout that it works even better, I scan the item before I even put it in the cart. You can also use the barcode that is next to the item description where you find the item.
I’m amazed Costco doesn’t have that capability. I always thought Costco was so much better than Sam’s.
