The New Drudge Report

Don’t believe Drudge has that much reach, or that Free Republic has that little.

Same here. I started following Drudge when the Monica Lewinsky fiasco broke. I also first heard of FR there. But, yeah I stopped following Drudge long ago

I found the Drudge Report via an article in the Washington Post. This was when Drudge was getting 17,000 hits a day. His website was a sensation in Hollywood where he lived at the time. He worked at a CBS gift shop (or one of the networks) and discovered someone had thrown a note/message/email in the gift shop's wastebasket. I don't remember the contents, but it involved one of the players in Hollywood.

He decided to "report" the content on his website. Hollywood noticed and started to feed him information about who, what and where in Hollywood - much of it business news - who was going to direct the next Batman movie before the studio was able to announce it, along with gossip. That's how he started.

I thought his website was unique and I started to look at it every day and watched it change to more news and political news.

I think the writer too easily dismisses Drudge. He is still one of the biggest websites around and still packs a punch.

He wasn’t comparing. FR doesn’t even come remotely close to the influence of Drudge - you can’t compare the two. In addition, many of the great posters of the past are long gone - purged from within and without - in a brutal fit intolerant anger. So, yes, there has been plenty of censoring on this website. We lost many of the brightest.

Drudge publishes his hits every single day. Its been there for years. It’s at the bottom right hand column - all the way near the end.

I have a much different opinion. Some of the lost supported Rinos and even joined anti-FR websites, some have passed away. And, YES, he WAS comparing Drudge to FR.

True True... I got sick and tired of the auto-reload garbage, but the last straw was Drudge’s anti-Trumpism.

I do not miss that site now at all. FR, TownHall, CitizenFreePress, Washington Free Beacon... need Drudge no more...

I looked at Drudge for the first time in years to see how it was treating the Durham investigation. Nothing.

While there I noticed that FR is no longer linked.
