You would probably be surprised to know that cable systems here in the DFW area in the mid/late-70’s actually CARRIED the WSR-57 RADAR imagery from the WSR-57 located in Stephenville ... I personally used a grease pencil to plot storm movement at that time. The image was monochrome, and looked like an early ‘scan converter’ tube (PPI to raster) was being used ... shortly thereafter the first digitizers were put in service by the NWS at the WSR-57 sites giving colorized RADAR imagery and ‘VIP’ levels (VIP for ‘Video Integrator and Processor’) for use in broadcast and on the cable systems ...
NONE of that I am sure you had any knowledge of.
