White former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin pleaded guilty on Wednesday in a federal court in Minnesota to charges he violated George Floyd's civil rights during the Black man's murder, reversing his not-guilty plea in September.
Chauvin, 45, entered his guilty plea in the U.S. District Court. Prosecutors asked the judge to sentence Chauvin to 25 years in prison, which would run concurrent to his state sentence, adding on about 2 years, The New York Times reported.
Chauvin has already been sentenced to 22-1/2 years in prison in state court for the 2020 murder of Floyd, on whose neck the then-policeman knelt for nearly nine minutes while a bystander captured it on her cellphone.
His April conviction in state court on charges of unintentional second-degree murder, third-degree murder and manslaughter was seen by many as a landmark rebuke of the disproportionate use of police force against Black Americans.

WTF?
That was my guess, a deal with a concurrent sentence.
Well there’s some un-inflammatory reporting eh. So, does Chauvin know he’s already screwed? And with the CAPS on color as well. Hey ‘rooters’ snooze service———phu cough!
I would say that was a stupid move on his part being that the autopsy showed Saint Floyd had heart disease, hypertension, fentanyl, meth in his system not to mention he had Covid, but this case has been fixed from the start and Chauvin has no hope.
Why couldn’t the Snivel “Rights” case have been put on hold pending the appeal of his state case? A lot of the relevant facts depends on this appeal.
There is no parole for federal crimes. So I guess Chauvin will do the whole 25 years.
I guess that’s better - in Chauvin‘s eyes - than risking consecutive sentences.
How does his decision to plea Guilty affect the prospects of the three remaining officers left to stand trial for the death of George Floyd????????????????
Could care less. I hate we keep hearing stories from any of these characters from that long ago event. Plus, in this country you can plead anyway you want.
I’m thinking he wants to get out of his home state prison system.
The Feds win 97% of the time if you go to trial.
Lots of innocent people plead guilty to avoid being destroyed by DOJ.
Yes, there is a United States Parole Commission. But it is only empowered to grant paroles to people convicted of federal crimes before 1987. That’s when the “no federal parole” law came into effect.
So Chauvin will have to do every day of his federal sentence.

Blatant lie. It was proven with video that his knee was not on Floyd’s neck, and it was proven that f,odds airway was not constricted by the simple fact thzg he is seen breathing and is heard speaking clearly a d distinctly, neither of which can be done if there is so much pressure on the airway that a person suffocated. Floyd spoke, clearly and disti ctly right up to the point the drugs knocked him out as the drugs were killing him.
Amazing that the left keep the lies going even when evidence proves that what they are claiming is a bald-faced lie

Complete farce perpetrated by blm, antifa, and even government officials who intimidated and threatened the jury and prejudiced the jury agaisnt chauvin
Oops. Here’s an addition to my post #15. Chauvin cannot be paroled from a federal sentence. But he could get a presidential commutation or pardon.
(That’s the way I understand it, anyway.)
U.S. Constitution 5th Amendment:
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb....
Chauvin behaved poorly but he did NOT “murder” anyone. Floyd was proven to have wrecked his own heart and lungs with drugs LONG before he decided to pass that phony $20 that led to his arrest. He also work in pr0n as Floyd the Landlord, and ran an armed robbery gang (which is why he traveled so much between MN and TX) and once even held a loaded gun to a pregnant woman’s stomach. Great role model!
