Some people are going to great lengths to avoid having their windows smashed, even leaving their trunks open to show it's empty.
SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- People are going to great lengths to avoid car break-ins, even if that means risking it all.
"I'm shocked," said former SFPD Deputy Chief Garret Tom. "There's so much that can go wrong here."
We've heard of cars being left unlocked, windows rolled down, but now some people are leaving their trunks open too. It's raising eyebrows as reports of car break-ins are on the rise in San Francisco and Oakland.
A witness who saw it happen wrote on social media, "Imagine having to clean out your car and leaving it open in public, just so people won't break your windows. Oakland we looking sad man."
Wait until the homeless start urinating in the open trunks.
No point in even having a car there.
SF getting what it voted for.
Their suffering pleases me. I hope it only increases.
You can’t support the underclass without destroying society. Stop feeding them, they will go away.
Simply don’t care what happens within San Francisco, Oakland, Seattle, Portland, Chicago, New York and Atlanta. Democratic dominated and governed urban areas are unlivable. They are not fit for decent, rational people. Pity those who have no real choice or ability to avoid them.
Yet those same useful idiots who keep their trunks open continue living in that leftist controlled city and keep voting for the democrat taliban party.
Ron White was right when he said ya can’t fix stupid.
“Stop feeding them, they will go away.”
It is actually just that simple. In fact you can fix most of America’s ill’s today by stop feeding them.
Constant driveway break ins around us. That’s why we park our vehicles in the garage. But, as we drive in the ‘hood, we see 4 or 5 vehicles out and the garages are packed full of stuff so that folks couldn’t put a car in if they needed to. Oh well. Some folks even leave the garage door remotes in their cars so....................
The Left in the Bay area has created a mess
Unfortunately, the stupid and unaware vote DEM in large numbers.
People in Cali have either turned their garages into gyms and offices or into studio apts for rental income. Hope that is enuf to pay for the broken wimdows.
Anyone else remember NYC in the late 1970’s? Criminals broke into cars to steal the radio (or even better for them, the cassette player) so often every parked car had a sign inside the window saying “No radio….thanks”.
It meant “please don’t break my window, there’s nothing to steal and thanks for not just breaking it anyway”.
Way to go, Brandon. It’s back to that.
A friend lived in a “gentrified” part of town - a lot of petty street crime took place.
He drove an old car, and left his car doors unlocked. He even took to leaving a note on his car window: “No valuables in this car”
One day he discovered his window smashed, with a note that said: “Just Checking.”
Yeah just as long as they’re suffering is confined there
LOL! Used to be the same in the New Orleans area. Garages quickly became bonus rooms. Me, I have always valued a garage for it’s intended purpose.
I have immediate family in the city and have seen these smashed car windows. My daughter’s friend had the windows of her (very) old Toyota Corolla smashed in - all of them. There was nothing in the car, nothing taken, just the windows smashed in. She is in medical school there and could ill afford the repairs.
What it looks like is the a**h**** aren’t looking for anything, they’re smashing windows just to be destructive, knowing there are no consequences even if they are caught.
I am annoyed that newer cars have a trunk latch under the dash that doesn’t require a key. One of the reasons I prefer a car over an SUV is that I like having a trunk whose contents are unseen, and not easily broken into. I often left my older cars unlocked, knowing that anything valuable was in the trunk, especially when out shopping. Now I pretty much have to lock the car anywhere. Worse, I have to share a $300 Toyota fob with Mrs. Sivana, instead of having a pile of $5 keys.
Back in the early ‘90s, when radio theft was still common, NYers often put signs up saying “No Radio”. In those days, Jay Diamond was on WABC-AM 770. He is a gifted impressionist. He did a perfect David Dinkins warning New Yorkers that they would be cited for putting those signs on their cars, if there actually IS a radio in the car. It fit the times perfectly.
