The fastest-growing US religious affiliation? ‘None,’ poll says

A Pew Research Center poll published Tuesday indicates that the number of people in the U.S. who describe themselves as religiously unaffiliated increased by 6 points in the last five years and 10 points in the last decade.

When asked about their religious identity, 29% of respondents, or about 3 in 10 U.S. adults, said they had “none,” meaning they were atheists, agnostics or “nothing in particular,” according to the Pew Research Center survey.

“If the unaffiliated were a religion, they’d be the largest religious group in the United States,” Elizabeth Drescher, an adjunct professor at Santa Clara University, told The Associated Press.

Drescher said that the religiously unaffiliated previously resided mostly in urban and coastal communities but now are spread across the country.

Christians, including Protestants, Catholics, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Orthodox Christians, still make up a majority of the U.S. population, the survey indicates

Specifically, they account for 63% of the adult population, a 12 percentage point decrease compared to data from 2011.

While the percentage of Catholic U.S. adults has remained relatively steady, accounting for about 21% of the population since 2014, the population of Protestant adults declined to 40% this year, down 4 points in the last five years.

Less than half of respondents, 45%, report praying once a day, compared to 58% in a 2007 survey.

The Pew survey included 3,937 respondents and was conducted from May 29 to Aug. 25. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.1 percentage points.

You’re telling me people don’t want to go to a Church a rainbow flag and BLM banner in front? If Churches would preach the hard truths they’d get more people to show up but then I guess that means random nobodies on twitter will say mean things about them.

If someone asked my religious identity I might have to say ‘none’ meaning no organized religion. I believe in God and follow the Bible closely but don’t belong to a church.

Reformed is probably the fastest growing, but the data points wont pick that, along with the continued loss of main line Protestants.

"“If the unaffiliated were a religion, they’d be the largest religious group in the United States,” Elizabeth Drescher, an adjunct professor at Santa Clara University, told The Associated Press. "

So moral laws that flow from Biblical religion can be deemed unconstitutional under the premise that the 1st amendment forbid such, but immoral laws which flow from faith in the all-wise liberal elites (do not tell me such things as gender being subjectively defined is not based on faith) is no problem since it does not involve a supernatural deity.

While the percentage of Catholic U.S. adults has remained relatively steady - due to immigration - accounting for about 21% of the population since 2014, the population of Protestant adults - whatever that means - declined to 40% this year, down 4 points in the last five years.

Everybody has a religion. It’s the “deity” which varies.

Protestant adults - whatever that means

All non-Catholic but Christian religions that developed from the Protestant Reformation in the 16th Century. Surely you've heard of it. It's only one of the most significant eras in Western history.

Meaning everything from followers of Swedenborg to Joe Smith to Charles Russell to Mrs. Mary Baker Eddy to L. Ron Hubbard and and more, who deny the basic beliefs of those who were called Protestants, and those who originally were called Christian?

Yes, I have heard of them, as well as Catholicism (all links are from my site). That is why I sarcastically asked "whatever that means." As with the word "Christian," terms should be normally used only for those who conform to the fundamental believers of those who were originally called by that distinctive title. That really narrows down the field of Christians for one thing.

With the craven, spineless, gutless, disgusting idiots now running these mainline woke denominations, people are probably too embarrassed to reveal anything.
