Despite the uptick in COVID-19 cases particularly in Central Pennsylvania, Gov. Tom Wolf has no intention of imposing a statewide mask or vaccine mandate but will continue to urge Pennsylvanians to get vaccinated.
“The vaccine is our strategy,” Wolf said on a KDKA morning radio show.
Wolf was asked whether he was considering going down the path that Philadelphia city officials announced on Monday that starting next month, a COVID-19 vaccine will be required to eat inside a restaurant or food establishment in that city.
“Local municipalities, as you know, I think ought to be free to do with what they want,” Wolf said. “What they are talking about is what’s happening throughout the Northeast. I mean cases are rising and Pennsylvania is part of that.”
The state’s neighbors to the east, west, north and south all are seeing surges in COVID cases much like Pennsylvania is, and some hospitals are struggling to keep up, he said. That is causing other places, such as New York’s Gov. Kathy Hochul, to announce a temporary indoor mask mandate.
“Different municipalities are going to handle it differently,” Wolf said. “Again, the state’s strategy is the vaccine.”
On Friday, the Supreme Court upheld a lower court ruling that invalidated the Wolf administration’s school mask order, which was another part of its COVID-19 mitigation strategy to help keep schools open for in-person instruction. The high court agreed with the Commonwealth Court that Wolf’s acting Health Secretary Alison Beam lacked authority to issued the mask order.
About that, Wolf said he had previously stated that he planned to lift the mask order on Jan. 17.
“So, you know, the mask order came off, what December 13th, 14th? So we’re talking four weeks, four and a half weeks [early],” Wolf said. “That’s fairly insignificant in terms of when the masking order comes off. And schools are still free to do whatever they want to do. Some are taking the masking off, some are continuing with the masking.”
Wolf said that court ruling “had nothing to do with” Beam’s announcement on Monday that she is stepping down from the Cabinet post she has held for the past year. He said aside from the departures that typically happen when a governor’s term of office approaches as he does in January 2022, Beam is departing to spend more time with her kids.
“So it’s hard to argue against that,” Wolf said, adding it pained him when she told her she was departing.
He went on to praise Beam for stepping into the health secretary role just as the COVID-19 vaccines were becoming available and at a time, “Pennsylvania was really struggling and and she really did a phenomenal job of getting us on on track.”
That's what Wolfie initially said about school districts and masking....keep local option.
Until he didn't like the option the locals chose.

Pennsylvania Ping!

Vaccines don’t work—so double down.
Clever!
I guess we should be thankful and owe our gratitude to Dear Leader Tommie the Commie. F NO. He can eat shit and die.

In other words: We won't mandate that you wear a mask, but we will force you to get the jab.
There, fixed it.
There is no COVID vaccine. There are only experimental gene therapies, which are NOT effective. Essentially, high-priced bullcrap.
