Still going on. There was a 4.4. today. Keeping an eye on this.

That’s a really good point.

Are y’all speaking with each other in hushed whispers about, “the big one?”
Was watching a YouTube of the 2011 quake. Shot from inside an airport terminal and recorded the quake and the resulting tsunami. I was struck by how long the quake lasted. It seemed to go on forever (and must have felt even longer for the people experiencing it) and just when you thought it was slowing down, it became even more intense.
Sounds like more FUD from the usual suspects in the media.
Dead on, Imagine a quake that didn't stop for a couple of minutes, the ground literally becomes quick sand.(liquid)
it is kinda funny
Quote: “ Not really funny man.”
You’re right, better to let the democrats continue to do more damage to San Fran than an earthquake ever could.
Hehe ...nyet .
Glad to see you’re still hanging around as well. Yeah, I remember all kinds of detection methods back then. My wife was convinced that certain clouds could tell you if a quake was coming. Other people watched the koi in the ponds for clues.
The thing about yesterday’s quake that caused my alarm was not the strength, Hell, I’ve slept through Level 4 quakes, it was how long it lasted. I’m not sure how the formula works but the timewise length of a quake is a pretty good indicator of how strong it is at the epicenter.
I’ve been in Tokyo during a 5.2 and everyone giggles about it.
On the Magnetosphere/Solar Cycle chart, 2022 is about equal to 2011, so if there is anything to that causing earthquakes, there should be earthquakes, but I wouldn’t say they had to be in Japan. California is as good a place as any.
If the 1995 Kobe quake, at M7, didn’t unzip this fault, then none of these quakes in the article, which are scattered across southern Japan and not really near the Nankai fault, will. There will be a big one there (or in Shizuoka, or Tokyo), but who knows when.
Disaster porn clickbait by the SCMP.
BTW - Nice doggie.
I’ve always read that the little quakes release pressure, meaning a big quake has been averted. Years & years with no quakes along fault lines should be the driver of attention.

It’s nice to meet you. I’m glad that you found FreeRepublic.
If I lived in an earthquake zone, I’d wear a bicycle helmet all the time. If you are sushiman, I must be hormel spam lady (I live in Minnesota, home of Hormel)
Hi . I’ve been on FR for 21 years . 5 and a half years ago , just 2 weeks after we moved into our newly built house in Kumamoto City , we were hit with 7 magnitude quakes two days in a row ! Only 15 miles in depth . My wife thought it was the end of the world when the first one hit . You can’t imagine what it’s like unless you experience one for yourself .
Virtually everything that wasn’t nailed down fell to the floor , much of it breaking : PC , monitor , hue stereo speakers ( fell from 2nd floor to first ) , rice cooker , TV , etc...
In about 1995 or so, we had a 1.4 earthquake in Minneapolis. I happened to be praying in a church at the time. The hanging lights started to sway. I thought I was having a dizzy spell.
7 is big.
