No, it is Trump’s race to win. He earned it.

“Pence threw himself under the bus. He’s done - toast - in politics. Maybe he could get elected to the zoning commission in his home town, but that’s about it.”

I figured it was a lost cause by Jan. 6th, so I never expected anything out of Pence or anyone else then.

HOWEVER, where were they in November? All I can think of was praying that Biden’s ‘win’ would hold. I may be forgetting, but was ANYONE claiming to be on our side demanding investigations?

"This is the same man who threw Vice President Mike Pence under the bus on January 6."

I think Mr. Brown has this reversed.

...there was a lot of ‘lively debate’ here during the 2016 Primary, so I suspect a lot of the “Trump shouldn’t run again because he’ll lose” is more hurt feelings from back then (even though no one else stood a chance against Skunk Cabbage, given what the media has become).

As it is, Trump is up nearly 60 points in the latest Primary polling, so if Trump wants to be the nominee...Trump WILL be the nominee.

S’ok. I view that as an exhibition of someone’s personal class.

Generally, cussing is laziness.

I’ll vote Trump if he runs. But I hope he doesn’t. We don’t need anymore 80 year old presidents. Need young energetic blood.

No. The GOP, from top to bottom, was one giant study in cowardice in November. I hate the Republican Party with the white hot heat of a thousand suns because of it, and will never give them a dime again; Directly to specific Conservative candidates, yes, but the party is dead to me.

Trump will never be “elder statesman emeritus of the GOP.” Outside of his own political ambitions he doesn’t give a damn about the GOP.

This is something he has in common with a lot of his supporters.

You don’t ask someone like this to step aside when he’s still got energy and enthusiasm for the job. This kind of zany character who is perfectly suited for a disruptive role in a highly dysfunctional and corrupt system only comes along once in two or three generations.

“Surely there are others who can step forward and do a good job . . .”

Other than Ron Desantis, I can't think of one.

And he will not run against Trump if Trump is well and able.

Trump would have to disappear from the political world entirely for him to accomplish what you seem to want him to do.

I can’t even imagine him endorsing someone else for President. Between his personality and his background so clearly overshadows every other political figure in America today that he makes them look weak and ineffective by comparison.

ABSOLUTELY. They don’t seem to understand that throwing us a few bones at election time (like opposition to gun control) is no longer enough for us, when they are COMPLICIT in destroying the country.

Trump voters have now gotten good at presuming every allegation against Trump is false. Even if a few of them might be somewhat true, Trump voters just ignore them.

Democrats have taken this attitude with their candidates for decades - but Republicans have always seemed determined to burn their own at the stake for the slightest heresy. This has allowed the Deep State to play these games with dossiers and phone calls - knowing that the RINO Auxiliary will reflect and amplify any criticisms they come up with.

DeSantis's problem won't be false allegations, but how much presumption of truth is given to them by senior RINOs. If on Day One of the Russian dossier story Graham, McConnell, Ryan, and others had gone straight to the media and loudly insisted it was all pure garbage, CNN would never have been able to stage their elaborate theatrical performance. The media knew they could count on "even-handed" Republican leaders for help.

If there were a replacement for Trump, I would wish Trump a graceful exit, stage right — for his own sake, at his age. But there isn’t.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I agree with that and would extend the thinking further. I don’t really believe that Trump wanted to run the first time. However, he could see the rat hole the country was being dragged into and essentially said “If no one will step up to the plate who has the mindset of stopping this slide, the resources to mount the challenge AND can win, I guess I’ll have to throw my hat in the ring myself.” I don’t think that anything has changed for 2024. I have no doubt that if Trump looked out and saw someone out there who fit that same criteria, he would be more than happy to step aside and support that person. As of right now however, I don’t believe there is a candidate who has been clearly identified as fitting that role...
Pompeo does not have the charisma a president needs.
Its the next play by never Trumpers. “Trump did the best he could, now its time for someone else (Rino) to carry (drop) the flag.”
/\
Your translation of the weaseleez essence of this article into English is refreshingly concise and accurate.
Bravo.
From where I sit, yes - Trump has a lot of baggage.
But the bottom line is, who else is there who will fight for the truth will all he has? No one.
Until someone rises up with more boldness to fight our enemies - those who would destroy our nation - I’ll take Trump - in spite of all his baggage. I don’t like the baggage, it’s harmful to his and our interests - but show me an alternative.
Until I see one - give me Trump.
Sad Michael Brown does not see this.
