Saule Omarova, President Biden’s pick for comptroller of the currency, has withdrawn her nomination after at least five Democratic senators and every Republican senator made it clear that they were unwilling to vote to confirm her to the post.
My question is this: Why the hell was she nominated in the first place?
Perhaps he hasn’t noticed yet, but he is not in a particularly good place right now. He is wildly unpopular. He is already seen as last year’s news. He has yet to persuade Congress to pass the core of his policy agenda. His claim to be a moderate is falling apart by the day. His party seems to be on course for a historic drubbing in next year’s midterm elections. And, in spite of it all, he just spent some of his fast-draining political capital trying to put a radical into the currency office. Why?

Every president has nominees that leave you scratching your head but Omarova takes the cake. Whoever thought she was a good candidate for Comptroller of the Currency should be fired.
Saule Omarova really sounds like someone in the Obama camp. I’ll bet Obama’s people running the WH made the appointment thinking she could sneak in. Biden probably didn’t know her at all.

I saw a video of Biden in the early days of his administration. He was supposedly "working". Biden was signing papers. When you look closely you can see that Biden was signing blank pieces of paper. His handlers could fill in anything in the world and claim the Biden signed it.
If they want to play this, the next GOP President should nominate Steve Bannon as CIA Director. :)
As a matter of fact, there was a Gender gap even un the USSR.
Like everywhere in the world, women tend to pick lighter work with more flexibility!

I’ve been wondering about this since the first day her name was revealed.
It’s pretty obvious they view this as a once-in-a-lifetime chance to create the USSA before they lose the House, but thank God this was just too far. There is no way a sane nation would have nominated her or her nomination would have gotten out of committee and on her way to a Senate vote. Even more distressing is that her nomination didn’t go down in flames when 90 Senators had said “Hell no” forcing her withdrawal.
This was a trial balloon. Now they’ll come back with a home-grown communist radical who doesn’t have the Moscow and USSR taint or the academic paper trail, but largely the same communist philosophy.
The nation is in deep peril and it’s getting worse every day. It is crumbling before our very eyes.
