Extensive use of road salt is more likely a factor!
Yes, the ice is receding. For now. Later it will grow again. Regardless of what man does.
This Okie laughs at the climate scammers cherry picking what to report. They don’t like to talk about last February, which was Oklahoma’s coldest in 122 years. Or Halloween 2020, when central Oklahoma got hit with an ice storm (virtually unheard of). Or Labor Day 2020, when parts of the Oklahoma and Texas panhandles got snow(!). That almost scared me into thinking an ice age might actually be getting started. Lastly, the enviromarxists would rather ignore February 10, 2011, when Oklahoma recorded its lowest ever temperature of -31.
Thanks for referencing that article Libloather. Please note that the following critique is directed at the article, not you.
Noting that I'm not familiar with the Great Lakes area, the lakes evidently had a significant, single night freeze as recently as 2015.
Record freeze on Lake Ontario as 4,700 square miles of ice forms on Great Lakes IN ONE NIGHT (2.19.15)
So I question the significance of the loss of two weeks of lake ice with Minnesota lakes.
Corrections, insights welcome.
Minnesota is NOT the ‘’globe’’

Run in circles! Scream and shout!
Two weeks of ice free lakes equals two more weeks of waterskiing, which was invented in Minnesota...
“There are 3 week stretches when it never gets above zero. No, not freezing. ZERO!”
One of the first loads I pulled across the north in winter was an eye opener.
I parked for the night at a rest area. Before going to bed I checked the thermometer which read 27° outside. I woke up five hours later and the thermometer read -21°. Twenty one degrees BELOW zero. A 48° drop in five hours. Eye opening to this Virginian.
When I got on the road the next morning the highway seemed fine. I topped a slight rise, at the top my 75,000 pounds got loose as a goose! I recovered and got slowed down.
I learned a hard frost up north was worse than ice back home.
How many less mosquitos does that make?
Now I know why Polaris and Artic Cat got into the boat, SUV and RV business... Global Warming, so they can’t sell SNOWMOBILES! 🤓
I spent a very cold winter in Bemidji, MN in 2009-10
Lake Bemidji was thoroughly frozen and had hundreds of ice houses. Winters vary and always have due to weather conditions. 40 or 50 year temperature comparisons in localized areas are not indicative of global climate change.
Tonight it isn’t. They just got a foot of snow.

I was working a lot outside in that time frame. There were 2 winters back to back that were hell: 2013-2014 and 2014-2015.
