Just a thought.... The far left, BLM, Antifa, Soros, organized street gangs and thugs in general helped elect those far left mayors and city councils. And now these "defund the police and protect the criminal" politicians are doing exactly what the criminal element want them to do out of political, financial and personal preservation.
Do the politicians need extra police protection while advocating for defunding the police and protecting the criminals? I don't think so.
The elected politicians are protected by the thugs they protect from the rule of law. They and their families are off limits for crimes against their persons or property as long as they keep the thugs happy. Any crimes perpetrated against the protected political class that protects the criminal class will be swiftly dealt with using street justice by the thug class.
Once the political class has bowed to the dictates of criminals, how can they reverse course when they and their families are potentially exposed to the threat of retribution from Antifa, BLM, and other street thugs? The streets aren't safe for them and their families if they are not appeasing their criminal base? How do they reverse course and ask the boys in blue that they have betrayed for so long to protect them and their families from their political base?
I guess this is like being protected by a gang in prison, or by being protected by organized crime. It works as long as the protected can afford to pay what the criminal demands for payment.
