No deaths so far. This is horrendous. If the government doesn’t institute forced vaccinations and further destroy the economy there is no telling what the outcome will be.

8 Dec: ABC Australia: Queensland records first cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, both different genetically
Queensland has recorded its first cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
A Nigerian man, who tested positive while in hotel quarantine in Cairns a few days ago, has been confirmed as a positive case of the new variant.
The man flew into Queensland on Jetstar flight JQ950 from Sydney to Cairns on Friday, December 3, and everyone on that flight has now been deemed a close contact.
Another man, from South Africa, who tested positive to the virus on Saturday in Brisbane, has also been confirmed to have Omicron, but tests revealed it was slightly different genetically.
Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said the international committee had now reclassified Omicron into two lineages “and we have both of them in Queensland”.
Ms D’Ath said because Queensland still had quarantine arrangements for international arrivals, authorities were able to identify the cases without it entering the community.
Chief Health Officer Peter Aitken said the scientific services team picked up the differences in the Omicron variant.
“[They] recognised there are differences between the full and normal Omicron classification, passed it on to the international committee in a really quick time frame,” he said.
“The important part is those two sub-lineages, one has the S gene dropout and is the normal means of screening for Omicron … but then this other gene then doesn’t have this S gene dropout.”...
